I have been having a bit concern. I was breastfeeding received recently found a lump in breast. I went to a radiologist who noted a supcious appearing lesion plus supscious axillary lymph node

The breast mass and one if the axillary lymph node was biopsied by a ultrasound guided core needle

Results are back they are benign. Am worried as I feel that lymph node core needle biopsy was excessive

I had the biopsy one month ago and I still gave some swelling or maybe its just in my mind .

As anyone experienced this and what about the possibilities of lymphedema. The doctors state they are small to none.

Congratulations on the benign results - wonderful news! it is extremely unlikely to get lymphedema from a core needle biopsy - especially if no lymph nodes have ever been removed from that area in the past. The core needle biopsy wouldn't have removed the entire lymph node - probably just a few very tiny tissue samples. It is most likely just some residual swelling from the procedure itself.

I had a core needle lymph node biopsy recently with no lasting issues - even though I have had 3 lymph nodes removed in the past

So glad you had a benign result. I had a core needles biopsy with benign results about a month ago. Although the procedure was painless and the immediate discomfort less than I expected, I had a lot of swelling. In the first two weeks it was a cherry sized lump at the needle insertions site and a 1+in swollen oval area deep in the breast where the needle had penetrated. I had no redness or fever. I found that heat helped make the breast feel better at this point. The lumps are getting noticeably smaller now one month out. The core biopsy needle is not small and it may take more time than you think for the site to heal. When I breast fed my breasts were swollen and lumpy too. That may add to your feeling of swelling. I hope you continue to recover.

Ok so update ..... My arm swelling is going down a bit....My left arm measures 0.3 cm more than my right not sure if that is significant. I had the biopsy on my left.My left breast is also bigger not sure why....But I also have a the benign growth in that breast. My mother sates its the breast feeding that made it that way .I had the biopsy Dec.20.2016

I am so distressed went to an appointment with the breast surgeon he stated he saw no evidence of lyphmedema . However I have taken the step to book an appointment with the lyphmedema therapist . All the pain has gone now thou.

I am just wishing I never had the procedure done at this stage.

    Guidance and prayers are welcomed.
