It has been two years since my right mastectomy with silicone implant reconstruction.  My last reconstruction surgery was about one year ago.  I also had surgery to my right shoulder due to arthritis in July 2013.  I have done a little bike riding and do yard work but gave up exercise with my diagnosis.  Surgeons always wanted you to take it easy after surgery and I had 7 surgeries in 2 years.  I also have fibromyalgia which is become more severe with Tamoxifen and the lack of exercise (I believe).  Anyway - I just tried an 8 min. Pilates beginner set DVD from the library.  The pain in my rt. pec, due to the stretching of the muscle, was shooting and excruciating.  Does anyone else have these MX pains?  I get pain with lifting and pushing a grocery cart.

I know walking is okay exercise too but my knee has been giving me trouble too; possible arthritis.  I have gained 25 lbs. since diagnosis and am so fatiqued.  All I want to do is take naps (although I work full time and care for my house - I have too).  This pain is surprising and upsetting.  Wondering if it will ever go away  :(

    Mybee 333,

I am over two years out from a bilateral mastectomy and still find exercises specific to the pec muscles uncomfortable. I am also on Tamoxifen and honestly have less joint pain or issues if I exercise or walk.  There is a great group of ladies on the Let's post our exercise thread and you are welcome to join us. All efforts to move more are applauded.

Just to follow up, the post-mastectomy pain has lessened considerably. There have been other medical issues but the pain in that area is something to which I have become accustomed. If I exercise I choose forms that dont require me to balance on that side and inside things like hiking, swimming, walking, gardening and biking. everyday thing are easier too. So....there is hope in this regard :)
