Spookie- you are so right about that derm check. I had a good friend from my 20s who husband was a ginger and ended up with what they thought was the flu, and he had end stage melanoma. He did not make it a month from diagnosis, so sad. Melanoma is a deadly cancer, but also usually can be treated if found early. I always think we are lucky with skin cancer because it is on the outside and we can more easily see it than the other crap on the inside. But sometimes is unusual places too.

Because I used to do the beach as a young person and back in the day when baby oil or lotion with no SPF was all we had, I got bad sun burns. The age spots are brown and flat, I have a number of keratoses too (benign) and always having those checked. A few summers back, I had a crusty spot on my scalp that got bigger. Turned out to be a basal cell and had the Mohs surgery to remove it and no reoccurrence since.

Here is another warning about basal cell too, based on what my derm said when I asked her about basal cell, can it spread and take a life? She said yes, in some cases. Just like all cancers, there are some that are faster growing and can metastized. She told me she had a patient who came to her with a large basal cell on her back, but it was so large for her to do an office removal, so the woman had to go to a general surgeon. It was a re-occurrence from any earlier removal in another state. I asked how she was doing and she said "not well, mets to the organs."

For us fair skinned types with a family history, always worth a yearly scan. I have to have them yearly now after having the basal cell.

Oh and the laser was for the brown spots on my face. They were really bad at one point, better now! Zap!

Jazzy, I am considering laser for the sun spots on my face. Does it hurt? I am a chicken when it comes to pain. Ha! I have a huge mole on my face I would like to have removed also. I feel like people get distracted when they talk to me with the huge mole right on top of my lips. Did you have yours done in the dermatologist's office? How many treatments before the brown spots disappear? No, I am not vain. Ha!

Ms. Chevy, that pup is a dare-devil. Cute little guy. That slide would scare Mitzy.

jazzy, do you take Hyaluronic acid in pill form or liquid/cream? Expensive?

    Hi all.

Loverly- the laser treatment do not hurt at all. How many depends on how many spots you have. The first time I did it (maybe around 2009 or so), I ended up with a total of three and it cleaned up the majority (I had a lot of brown spots on my face). I did a touch up last fall with a newer and better type of laser treatment and that did an even better job. I have a couple areas that could use one more treatment and saw the derm spa is having a discount on services this month and may call to see if I can get in this month for another one!

The challenge is you need to stay out of the sun for 48 hours after treatment. So usually I do this in the winter when I am outside less and go out at night with the vampires. A good hat is important if you do go out to protect your face. Your face may have a few scabs and get red after, but you can manage all that with make up. The laser treatment does work, but you need to keep your face protected and out of the sun for the longer term. Or they will come back. Runs about $300 per session here, and good to find out the price where you are. And yes, I have it done at a medical spa where my dermatologist is affiliated.

Chevy- the supplements I take for hyaluronic are in capsule form. I usually get the 60 day supply (you take two per day) and it runs about $20 a bottle. Doctors Best is the brand I get and like. Looks like you have a Sprouts in Denver? They are running a sale right now for 25% off so check to see if that is true in your neck of the woods? You can buy them on line too.

thanks jazzy. I found some on Amazon. Are these horse pills? Hard trying to swallow large pills.

Lover, our Kaiser here has those services. You should check them out. You should also check that mole anyway. By the way, I don't remember seeing a mole on you

Lunch was fun. Didn't realize how late it was when we left. Poppy, don't forget to send the info on the exercise program. 🙄

Lover, to get rid of that mole, depending on size, they may have to give you a little bit of local anesthetic. I've had a lot of stuff taken off over the years, and if it's a big one, they'll give me a little shot so it doesn't hurt. Need to go back and have more stuff taken off, but MO does not want me to do anything until I'm off chemo. Even tho the threat of infection or catching some clinic-related bacteria is very slight, she wants to err on the side of caution. I go to the Kaiser Union City one, and they are very nice and very thorough.

Chevy- not big pills. They are capsules and go down easy. You should have no problem.

Chevy - Video of puppy sliding is adorable. Enjoyed watching it.

Loverly - What a beautiful pittie in that FB post. He'll make someone a great buddy.

While I am on the computer I hear a crash in the living room of my floor lamp falling. I go out and there is Kirby all freaked out because the lamp sits on a phone book that he had been chewing on. I wonder if he'll try that again? Kirby is fine. He was laying under the side table while chewing on the phone book. Little squirt.

Jazzy - After your suggestion of taking Uber if need be in the future, I checked it out. Well, as it turns out the state capitol of Oregon does not have Uber. Go figure! We have the worst transit system, only one hospital and several other things that are available in other parts of the state. It seems like we live in the dark ages here sometimes.

I have a follow-up appt. in the morning with my sleep doctor. Failed my sleep study back on Dec. 27th. I should have postponed it since I was sick and had had my Faslodex injections earlier in the day and didn't ask for a sleep aid prior. But I wanted to to get it out of the way before bringing Kirby home. I was awake most of the night, but once I got home, I went to bed and put on my CPAP and fell asleep for 6 blissful hours.

So goodnight to all. Hello to everyone I didn't address. Sleep well everyone. BB

Junie- well that is too bad. There is another service called Lyft but it also looks like they are not in your area either. Maybe with time.

Good luck at your doctor apt today. Hope little Kirby is doing well!

Ms. Wren, I agree. Caterpillars are beautiful in their own way.

Sensi, there is a time to lurk and there is a time to yack. Ha!

JunieB, hope Kirby does not like chewing on electrical cord. I started Mitzy on the Honest Kitchen a little over a week ago and we notice that she has been drinking water more than usual the last two days. Had three accidents in the house so far. Not exactly sure it is related to the food or the rain. It has been raining for nearly a week on and off. She does not like to go outside very long when it is wet. Does her business quickly and runs back inside. I wonder if she completely empties her bladder. Unless....she picks up the stress/worries from me these last week and a half with dad's injury and mom's car accident.....Mitzy mopes aroundgives me this sad look :(

WildT, thought you said you will "bbl". I have been waiting. Ha!

Everyone else, are you behaving yourself?

hi all. Been busy and out of town. Haven't avoided the rain. Typical Californians, we complain when it doesn't rain enough and when we've had enough!

Heading to bodego bay tomorrow for sewing retreat. yesterday I made a piece of cloth, felting. I'll show you a picture later. It's suppose to be a bag when I get done. 😝 We'll see.

How's everybody? Very quiet on here

Ladies, I heard from another sister on BCO that Holeinone may have lost her battle. She used to be here with us, but remember she had told us about changing to Stage IV and have not seen her here in awhile.

Do any of you know this or was this maybe shared here earlier when I was not on the thread for awhile?

Awww, love it!! He is actually walking himself in the video. Mitzy got her walk this evening too. All those days trapped inside the house I think was too much for her anxiety. No accident today. Yay! I think we have enough rain for now or we will have lakeside property and I would need to trade Mitzy in for a Portugese Water Dog.

Have a safe trip tomorrow, Ms. S

    Hello Ladies,

Sensi - Love the video of Chance. Such a good boy. At least he comes when you call. Kirby only comes if he thinks I might have treat. I lost my grip on his leash last night and he was off like a shot. There is still snow on the ground and the ground is uneven. The squirt scared the tar out of me. There was only a building between us and the driveway. I sure hope he learns the "come here" command soon. He is doing well on his potty training though.

Here he is sitting on my computer chair a few nights ago:

Loverly - I sure hope Mitzy does well on the Honest Kitchen. I haven't started Kirbs on it yet because he is on the ultra puppy food for now,but I have a box of the other to transition him to when I can. I do give him "Stella & Chewy's" beef treats though. He loves them. Stella & Chewy's is another organic freeze dried dog food and treats too. I also have tried putting his toothpaste on his teeth. Yuck, he hated it. He'll get used to it though. He had his vet check yesterday and he's gained 3/4 of a lb. in the last week. Growing like a weed. 6.75 lbs now. Kirby loves the snow & rain. I have to nearly drag him to get him to come inside. Actually I pick him up and carry him in. Again, little squirt! So much fun though.

The yellow worm was just ewww! But the yellow fish & turtle were very pretty. Thanks for sharing.

Broke out the slow cooker yesterday and made pork chops w/ potatoes. They turned out ok, but nothing I'd write home about. Saw an interesting recipe on youtube I may try next time.

Smaarty - Have a great/relaxing time on your retreat.

Hey Wren, how's it going with you?

Tomorrow is Friday the 13th. I'm not superstitious, so not an issue for me. I am getting a massage in the afternoon though.

Hello to everyone else! Sleep well and Good morning to you Feline.

Loverly, Ha..you caught me! I actually posted Sunday morning, and then Sunday eve when I logged in it wasn't there. I swear the computer ate it, and it wasn't human error. I just haven't been up to re-posting till now, but I'll have to go back and read before making some comments.

It's been a tough week here..some little things, some big. Little annoying things like smoke detector batteries going off at an inconvenient time, meds needing insurance pre authorization, etc. Big things like seeing the plastic surgeon and realizing I'll need fat grafting to get the look I want and THEN my ex-husband telling me he has been dating someone and he is planning to introduce my kids to her soon. This will be the first time they will be meeting someone else since our divorce. I've dated, but don't feel it's appropriate to involve the kids unless I think it's going somewhere. Anyway, he talked to the kids about her, even showed her a picture. It's someone he knew in high school and they re-connected and have been only seeing each other since around Thanksgiving, so I think it's too soon. Here's the polite version of how I'm feeling (you can substitute/insert the language of your choice)..the jerk messed up our marriage, I got cancer, and he gets a relationship. I saw my therapist yesterday, and I feel better, but this new thing is going to be hard to navigate.

Okay, so I'm going to go back and read now and then post again when I can (really).

Morning girls! Well Tulip, I inserted my own language about your DH-X. ! And you would have loved it. Also DH is NOT dear husband.... in my own mind... It is D-head..... and that's what yours is.

It's gonna happen.... and it's like he is bragging. He is a snot..... and a few other names.... Your kids just want you both to be happy... so they don't see it the same as you do. MAN, talk about rubbing your nose in it! I guess you have to be "cordial" to him, for your kids sake, but you can tell US what you really think. He's a jerk! Aaaargh....! I don't even know the guy, but I don't like him... It's amazing you held it all together! I admire you.... and your "calmness".... There is always the old iron skillet waiting....

I love the Kirbs and Chancemiester! Our dog Chevy used to go get my shoes, and throw them down in front of me.... AND his leash.... Hah! There was one dog in the neighborhood, that always had his soft mallard duck toy in his mouth! And he loved for us to notice him, and pet his duck! I keep "treats" in my purse, when we walk up to Starbucks, for our little "friends".....

Wildtulip- someone from high school? Your ex must have gone cruising FB or Classmates.com. Not dating even a few months and wanting to start introducing her to family seems like things are moving a bit too fast. Relationships that go too quickly often end quickly, please remember that.

Sorry he is been a jerk about this. Men can be very cruel with this stuff.
