has any one done radiation through the VA?

I do medical through the Veterans hospital. They don't have a breast surgeon so they sent me to a breast center where I felt very comfortable.. now I have to go see the va medical oncologist without consulting through the breast center. Any suggestions? I have no other insurance.

You must be at a bigger VA facility than I am at.

All of my IBC TX was out sourced immediately. My time frame - saw my VA PA at 11 Thurs, was at the local (non VA) Radiology Clinic at 1 that afternoon for a new mammo, US and biopsies. Next morning (Fri) at 8, the Radiologist called me with path. report - IBC. VA scheduled my appt on Mon with Surgeon, Wed with Rads Dr, Thurs with Chemo Dr. The next week they scheduled (all out sourced) Bone Scan, CT/MRI with contrast Scans and PET Scan. Port was implanted by my Surgeon and I started neoadjuvant chemo at the local Cancer Care Center. In other words - I was immediately out sourced for all of my IBC care. Just remember, there was one thing they did not out source me for and that was during adjuvant Taxol, LE raised it 'ugly head' and for that I had to see the OT (who is an LET) at VA. Really glad that I saw him - he's fantastic!

    What is your DX?

PM me if you'd like to.
