which Radiation Therapy you will choose?

6 weeks OR 4 weeks whole breast radiation therapy? or partial external breast?

I have stage 1a IDC, my doctor said I can choose either way (6 weeks OR 4 weeks whole breast or partial external breast), he said the result is the same. I am confused, I'd appreciate if anyone can recommend which treatment has less side effects. Thanks!

    Hi Asunny-

Welcome to BCO! You may want to also try your question over in our IDC forum, where you'll get more feedback specific to your cancer and staging, which may be helpful in making your decision: https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/96

I start radiation therapy today. I was diagnosed with stage 1a, grade 2, ki-67 40% - luminal b (1cm). I was told to undergo 6 weeks of radiation. I had clear margins, but the margins could have been more and that's why it was suggested that I should have 6 weeks instead of 4. Hope this helps.

Hi Hope1201, thanks for sharing your radiation therapy option with me. do you know your Oncotype DX?

I am waiting for my Oncotype DX score to see if chemo is needed. if no chemo, then I will start radiation therapy at the end of Jan.

    Thanks again!
