Anxiety getting worse not better

Hello folks, I hope no one minds me bumping up this thread. I came back here for the anxiety and the superstition mentioned here both. Not doing so great this week with either. I need a vent and perhaps someone will understand here. I still lurk but don't post a lot.
I typically have my yearly tests around the 3rd week in January, this year was already scheduled a few days early (since last year, which is when they schedule). I got a call from the booking department a few days ago, rescheduling next week's appointment to this coming Friday. Yep, Friday the 13TH.
I tend to be a bit superstitious anyway but like I mentioned up thread, I have gotten more so since entering the cancer world. I am not going to lie, this Friday the 13th thing is freaking me WAY the hell out. I have gone back and forth with the whole hey I'm getting it over with early, to wondering if I shouldn't call and ask to change it.
Historical/folklore significance of this day aside, it also popped into my head today that I don't recall having a mammogram on a Friday (not a 13) since the very first one I had in 2010, which lead to calls from the dr's office leading into a weekend and a long wait after. (side note, why is my memory so bad in general but I can't forget this stuff?). The others I remember (and of course I could be wrong) were scheduled for earlier in the week.
My brain is in overdrive. I know someone here will understand, and like I said, am mostly venting here.

CW, anxiety prior to scanning is what most of us experience, so your concerns are understandable. I often try to stay busy the days before, doing things I know will keep my mind occupied, try and make it fun stuff, and not dwelling on the upcoming scan, atho it is always there under the surface.
I am not one to be suspicious much. So I hope you don't mind my saying a Friday is a Friday is a Friday regardless of the date. Bad news, good news, it comes any day of the year. Perhaps, tho, you could pray for all bad connotations associated with the date be banished for the year 2017.
Lately I do not have such restful sleep as I would like, so I have been scouring Pinterest for sleep meditations and prayers and other suggestions to sleep more peacefully through the night. Pinterest is fun, it is relaxing and I create boards to pin info for future reference. Consider browsing it for ideas on how to lower anxieties and read up on the pins that catch your attention or speak to you. I find some useful knowledge in this process. Even one or two good tips help.
As a last resort, you could try to reschedule. You would not be the only one to avoid tests on the thirteenth of Friday. But take care of your concerns and put your needs first. Maybe they can squeeze you in earlier this week or switch to next. Not always possible but no harm asking. Best wishes.

CW,
Divine Mrs M has given some awesome advice. I agree that if the date is really spooking you out, you should try to reschedule. I've rescheduled appointments for a variety of reasons in the past; surely, there's a good (if fake) excuse you could use to justify it. Take it easy, and best wishes!

I realized that I never checked back in here. I sucked it up and went for the appointment on Friday the 13th and after the usual days of breath-holding in waiting, I got my results that my mammogram was ok for this year.

Hugs to you. Congratulations on the all clear mammogram!! Yeah!!!
Now Friday the 13th can be a good day from now on... maybe??
