Starting chemo soon

I had UMX on Dec 9, 12 positive nodes. Spoke to MO she offered two options, and I chose to go the most aggressive route. 8 cycles of Dose Dense AC followed by paclitaxel, every 14 days.

My question: I am a single lady living alone. Plenty of friends family etc for help. Will I be able to be home alone with no help needed? What day is the worst for most?

During MX my daughter was here, but really to be honest the surgery and healing has been a piece of cake. I want to believe I can sail thru Chemo the same way, but want to be prepared.

Any tips, don't do's, thoughts ?

    Hi Goincrazy!

You may want to join the Starting Chemo in January 2017 or Starting Chemo in February 2017 boards, depending on your start date. I was part of the July 2014 Chemo board, and it was very helpful to discuss chemo with fellow travelers.

I worked through chemo, but that was somewhat unusual. Most of my July 2014 sisters did not work through chemo.

I also did AC + T. I got my infusions on on Wednesday, and was OK until Day #3 (Friday), when the side effects began. By Monday, I was back on my feet. At its worst, AC made me spacey, and somewhat dizzy. I would get up, do a small task (fold laundry and put it away) and then lie down for a bit. Then, I'd get up and do something else, and lie down for a bit. Rinse and repeat. So, I was able to do most of my regular chores, just more slowly than usual.

Taxol was easier than AC, but it gave me mild diarrhea. I used Immodium, and that's all I needed.

The biggest tip: stay hydrated, hydrated, hydrated. Stock up on water and other non-caffeinated drinks.

    Best wishes!
