The good life is one inspired by love and guided by knowledge.
Bertrand Russell -
Peaches, I considered taking that class last year after attending an evening of lectures at the Cancer Wellness Center, but you must attend every class. I travel too often for that, and they said no exceptions.
I didn't gain much from Femara alone—but what did me in was the combination of comfort eating (can't give you the reason on this thread, lest I get a slap on the wrist from the Mods, but you can probably guess why) and then going to NYC & VA on vacation without having put my Wellbutrin in my pillbox. I take Wellbutrin to combat carb cravings, and it was Christmas week—so many restaurants, so little time. I was a good girl only the first night (purely dead-animals-&-leaves at Ruth's Chris) because I still had that morning's Wellbutrin in my system; but the rest of the week devolved into….well, you know what they say about Hell and handbaskets. Still trying to get my blood levels of Wellbutrin back up.
This weather is disgusting. Downstairs I have to wear fleece PJs and sweater, and shearling slippers, and it's still cold. (Another year of not having weatherstripped and caulked the cracks in the front room. D'oh)! Upstairs, it's like a sauna. The charms of a 108-yr-old house with hot water heat and a one-level thermostat.
I’ve been reading about “Coolsculpting” fat for body contouring. If I go out on my deck in my undies tonight…..

We have no more right to put our discordant states of mind into the lives of those around us and rob them of their sunshine and brightness than we have to enter their houses and steal their silverware. - Julia Seton

Good friends help you to find important things when you have lost them…your smile, your hope, and your courage.

Chisandy I have been comfort eating all my life, and I have no idea what causes it....I didn't know there was a drug to control carb cravings.....I need to get me an IV of that.

They've used Wellbutrin for years (half the dose, dyeing the while pills purple, calling it Zyban) for smoking cessation. Now the FDA has approved a version, combined with naloxone (yup, Narcan!!!) for weight loss. They’ve named it Contrave. Most patients starting Wellbutrin alone lose weight at first, but regain it if they let their discipline slip. With Contrave, they don’t regain. Seeing my shrink in a couple of weeks, gonna ask him about it. I know my Medicare Part D won't pay for the combo (especially branded); but since they do cover my generic bupropion, and naloxone is now sold over the counter (for reversing ODs till the EMTs arrive), maybe I can “roll my own" (um, perhaps I should rephrase...)!

It need not discourage us if we are full of doubts. Healthy questions keep faith dynamic. In fact, unless we start with doubts we cannot have a deep-rooted faith. One who believes lightly and unthinkingly has not much of a belief. One who has a faith which is not to be shaken has won it through blood and tears--has worked his or her way from doubt to truth as one who reaches a clearing through a thicket of brambles and thorns. -Helen Keller

As I look back upon my youth I realize how important to me were the help, understanding and courage, the gentleness and wisdom so many people gave me.These men and women entered into my life and became powers within me.But they never knew it.Nor did I perceive the real significance of their help at the time.We all owe so much to others; and we may well ask ourselves, what will others owe to us?You may be sure, that the effect of your own life on those around you is—or can be—great indeed. - Albert Schweitzer
-
"Possessions, outward success, publicity, luxury—to me these have always been contemptible. I believe that a simple and unassuming manner of life is best for everyone, best both for the body and the mind." — Albert Einstein
-
We in the West don't think much in terms of balance,
and obviously we should. Even the very thought of an exquisite union and balance of all our forces, both physical and mental, has a gentle, hopeful ring
to it. . . . All of us must find a bridge between our physical and spiritual parts. When that balance is achieved, what a happy comfort for ourselves!
Edward J. Lavin -
"We don't develop courage by being happy every day. We develop it by surviving difficult times and challenging adversity."
-- Barbara De Angelis -
If you teach people to keep their eyes upon what others think of them, unthinkingly to lead the lives and hold the principles of the majority of their contemporaries, you must discredit in their own eyes the authoritative voices of their own souls. They may be docile citizens; they will never be men and women. It is ours, on the other hand, to disregard this babble and chattering of other people better and worse than we are, and to walk straight before us by what light we have. They may be right; but so, before heaven, are we. They may know; but we know also, and by that knowledge we must stand or fall. There is such a thing as loyalty to one's own better self; and from those who have not that, God help me, how am I to look for loyalty to others?
Robert Louis Stevenson -
To the mind that is still,
the whole universe surrenders.
- Lao Tzu -

Keep your dreams alive. Understand to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination, and dedication. Remember all things are possible for those who believe. -Gail Devers
-
If we make our goal to live a life of compassion
and unconditional love, then the world
will indeed become a garden where all
kinds of flowers can bloom and grow.
Elisabeth Kuebler-Ross -
Give the best you have received from the past to the best that
you may come to know in the future.Accept life daily not as a cup
to be drained but as a chalice to be filled with whatsoever things are
honest, pure, lovely, and of good report.Making a living is best
undertaken as part of the more important business of making a life.
Every now and again take a good look at something not made with
hands—a mountain, a star, the turn of a stream. There will come
to you wisdom and patience and solace, and above all the assurance
that you are not alone in the world.
Sidney Lovett -
Peace of mind just can't be bought. Trust me:
Even if your conscience doesn't stop you from playing
dirty to get what you want, once you get it, it will
keep you from enjoying it. As my mother used to
say, "A good conscience is God's eye." Which is why
I always prefer a loss to an underhanded gain; the
one brings pain at the moment, the other for all time.
Patti LaBelle -
There is a vitality, a life force, an energy that is translated
through you; and because there is only one of you
in all of time, this expression is unique.
Martha Graham -
What do we live for if not to make life less difficult for each other? -George Eliot
-
So long as you can sweeten another's pain, life is not in vain. – Helen Keller
-
The splendor of the rose and the whiteness of the lily do not rob the little violet of its scent nor the daisy of its simple charm. If every tiny flower wanted to be a rose, spring would lose its loveliness. -Therese of Lisieux
-
I believe that all people's lives will be filled with constant, unexpected encouragements. . .if they make up their minds to do their level best each day of their lives—that is, try to make each day reach as nearly as possible the high water mark of pure, unselfish, useful living. -Booker T. Washington
-
Dreams are renewable. No matter what our age
or condition, there are still untapped possibilities
within us and new beauty waiting to be born.
Dale E. Turner -
Self respect cannot be hunted. It cannot be purchased. It is never for sale. It cannot be fabricated out of public relations. It comes to us when we are alone, in quiet moments, in quite places, when we suddenly realize that, knowing the good, we have done it; knowing the beautiful, we have served it; and knowing the truth, we have spoken it.
Whitney Griswold
-
It's not how much you accomplish in life that really counts, but how much you give to others. It's not how high you build your dreams that makes a difference, but how high your faith can climb. It's not how many goals you reach, but how many lives you touch. It's not whom you know that matters, but who your are inside.Believe in the impossible, hold tight to the incredible, and live each day to its fullest potential. You can make a difference in your world. - Rebecca Barlow Jordan

Just popping in to say hello. Been rather busy but doing well.
-
Good for you Lago -- if we are busy we don't have time to get rusty or old. Keep up the good work.

When we are motivated by goals that have deep meaning, by dreams that need completion, by pure love that needs expressing — then we truly live life. -Greg Anderson
