great picture ladies. I was jealous. Wish I would have met the you to sensie, and the other gal. Not sure who that is either.
Lisa, Hope and pray your cousin fully recovers. How sad
8 degrees here. But sunny:)
I have itty bitty eyelashes, going today to see if I can get little extensions to make them nicer. Prob stupid thing to spend my money on, but oh well. When I went to the show last week, ran into someone who didn't recognize me. That happens all the time. I don't look anything like I did 5 years ago. Probably shouldn't care, so many more important things out there to worry about. But maybe it will make me feel better about myself.
Stay safe and warm everyone:)
Kath, sorry to hear about your husband. Hope you figure out why it happened. Hu

Yes. Lover, Smaarty and PoppyQ and myself. Should've added names yesterday.
Chevy-yep Sacramento gal here. Born in Torrance, moved to Grass Valley when I was 7 so my dad could follow his passion of gold mining. Moved to Sac when I graduated high school and been here since. Don't make it to the Bay Area often, but love it. Need to take Chance back down to Baker beach, the off leash dog beach near the Golden Gate Bridge. Nice that you have the memories of your trips.
Good morning everyone else

Snow has been coming down since about 11 a.m. my time.
-
JunieB, it is so nice to put a face to a name. You and Kirby look so happy together. You must be sleep deprived by now. I don't like to have my picture taken either. We women are so hard on how we look. Maybe that is why plastic surgeons are rich. Ha!
Kath, bummer regarding your radiator. I have not dealt with one before. Does that mean you have no heat? I think Jazzy may be right about DH having TIAs or mini strokes. With history of high blood pressure, it put him at risk for strokes. I wish he would listen to you and go see a doctor ASAP. This won't get better by itself. Why are men so stubborn?
Lita, I am sorry to hear about your cousin. That is just horrible. Is she in California?
Jazzy, as a mom I have to be careful not to make critical comments about myself or my girls. Not that hard not to do especially comments about myself.
Forward, so sorry about your fur baby:( They don't live stay with us very long. I had to put down one of my dog a long time ago and it was tough. She had kidney failures from an infection in her leg. After she was hit by a car, her leg was never the same. I still have her ashes.
We are supposed to get heavy rain this weekend with possible flooding. The warm moisture comes in from Hawaii. The rain follows us home.
Time spent with the Sac ladies at lunch was winderfulyesterday. I can't believe we were at the restaurant for nearly four hours chit-chatting and laughing. Sensi is quite animated and at some point Peppy too. Ok, there were poking and prodding at the chest while sharing stories. Ha!
Dad pain has improved, but I noticed that he was quiet more than usual. Can't imagine being in the hard collar 24/7. His right deltoid is still sensitive. Light touch at the skin there hurts him. There is still swelling in the right back side of his neck. I massaged his back. Hopefully, that helps relieve some of the tension. He can only sleep in the recliner. Tried sleeping in his bed last night and couldn't. He loves to read, but can't hold up a magazine or book long. Imagine trying to read with a neck brace with limited movement in your arms. I need to look for a book stand for him. Reading helps keep his mind busy. I am concerned he may fall into depression if his mind is not stimulated. If you ladies have any suggestions, I am all ears. Thank you all for the well wishes and concerns for my dear Dad. It would be tougher to go through this alone without the emotional support.

MommaRay is back home with her family.

Thanks, WildT. Hope she got the rest she needed. She told me her heart was really heavy on Monday when I texted her. Heard from her last night. I am glad she is home with her guys.
-
Loverly check on Amazon for book props. There should be lots.
-
Loverly- I bet you are a super good mom. I think women & girls are so often judged and criticized despite the fact WE DO EVERYTHING! We take care of the home, kids, aging parents, our jobs, make sure our bosses (or clients) always look good. So I am all about helping to raise all females up in the world! Life is hard enough without all the put downs, right?

-
Lover, my cousin lives in Sonoma county. Thanks for the prayers.
-
Loverly good to hear your dad's pain is improving. Since he enjoys reading , there is a huge selection of audiobooks he could listen to
-
Lira, so sorry to hear about your cousin. I'll keep her in my prayers for physical and emotional healing.
Lover, we have heat except in the bathroom radiator. That supply pipe got capped off. Luckily, the bathroom is small. To fix that, they would have had to rip up the bathroom floor which does have concrete under the tiles and rip up the walls even more. The bathroom use to get too hot because the supply pipe runs under the floor from one side of the room to the other to get to the radiator. Always had to have a rug down in the winter to protect bare feet.
Thank you all for your in put on my hubby. Have to work on him to get him to realize this needs to be checked out sooner rather than later. He has always put his health off to the point he ends up with extra problems. Stubborn mule, he is. His blood pressure is back in the normal range since he is back on meds for it. Thank goodness I had him ask his nephrologist about it since she took him off of it entirely in the summer.
Our "snow storm" came in six hours later than predicted. Don't think it even was an inch.
Juni, how is Kirby?
-
Lover, meant to suggest getting your dad to give you the oral history of your family to keep his mind active if it wouldn't upset him too much during his recovery from the accident.
-
Thank you, Kath. Didn't think about that.
Forward, not a bad idea with audio books, but dad has difficulty hearing
Ms. Spookie, checked Amazon. I think what I found might work. Thank you! If it doesn't work for dad, I can give it to my DD for her to use with her lab top.
It is too bad we don't live near Queen's Medical Hospital. The doctors who took care of dad there are all amazing. So caring and compassionate. The Spinal surgeonthere just called to follow up on dad. Wow! We need more docs like that.

Good afternoon Ladies,
It is SNOWING like crazy here. However it is supposed to rain tomorrow or Monday and then freeze. That scares me the most. Too dangerous to go outside. My hip finally feels pretty good. Wish the toe did too though.
Anyway, I have taken Kirby out to walk 3 times already. He loves the snow. Guess that comes from him being born in Northern Idaho and running in the snow there. He is a busy little boy.
In regards to my comment about my looks, I know life is to short to worry about other peoples opinions so much, but it is what I see when I look at myself in pics and the mirror that makes me go ewww! The pic with Kirby let me see what a change there has been since I've been going through treatment too. I think part of it is also partly from my childhood and how my mother never seemed to approve of or like me. In her mind she was an excellent mother and has no clue as to the effect of the things she said to me growing up with her. She excuses her words/actions as "Oh, you just say things when you're mad" But she has been mad for at least as long as I've known her. Sometimes parents just don't realize the effect they have on their children.
Okay, done with the somber stuff.
Loverly, Sensi, Smaarty - Maybe, God willing I can drive down your way sometime in the late Spring or so. It would be fun to meet you face to face. A road trip for the Kirbs & I. Living Intentionally you know.
Okay, the Kirbs is being too quiet, so I need to check on him. BB

JunieB.....
Remember this verse??
And you have friends who are like a good bra.
-
Junie- your mother and mine sounded much the same. My mother was hypercritical of my appearance, but also everyone else's as well as her own. She was slightly overweight in midlife (who isn't?) and always obsessed with the scale. I had some reprogramming to do in my adult life; her stuff, not mine.
And yes, I think we all have seen changes since treatment. Same here. But know you are doing the best you can every day.
Be careful with the ice. There was plenty here yesterday, some patches around today. Some of those have melted but cold today so still spots around.
Being lazy today. When do ever here me say that?
-
Jazzy - Never heard you even mention the word "Lazy". I stayed in my jammies all day. As I said before it was snowing all day, but now it is raining and it has been forecast that the rain will freeze by morning.
I think the Faslodex (the hormone suppressor) has really dried my skin out and the wrinkles are becoming more noticeable. If you had seen me in my 20's when I was all about hair, make-up & clothes, you'd be surprised now.
Loverly - Thanks for the uplifting & support, but I'll have to pass on that bikini ;0)
Waving hello to everyone else and wishing you all a goodnight as well. BB

Lovely photo of the 4 Lunch Sisters
Kath best wishes with your husband's health.

Chevy, That's just great. See that tail wag!
-
Junie, I think all the cancer drugs dry our skin out. You should see my once lovely hands...they look like prunes now. DD photographed them for a school assignment. They look even more hideous now that it's cold.
Anyone notice new age spots just popping up out of nowhere? I hardly go in the sun anymore, but I've got age spots in places where the sun doesn't even get to now. Probably the drugs are exascerbating this.
-
Lita- if you take AIs, they dry out everything including skin. There is a supplement I use by Doctor's Choice called Hyaluronic acid. Recommended to me for joint stiffness through a health store, etc. It puts the moisture back in to things, including skin. I have been taking it for three plus years and it helps. Be sure to check with your MO first. Mine said it was okay, but think everyone needs to ask their own doc on these things?
Age spots are from old sun damage. Like skin cancer, shows up years later. I have lots of them too. I get laser treatments on my face to have them removed. I don't find the skin cremes/bleaches work very well on them.
-
Jazzy is right.... From when we were kids, and didn't know about this stuff.... I have one.... under my right breast, like on my stomach.... But I never wore a 2 piece anything! Don't know how the sun got their either! But Doc says it is just seborrhea keratosis or something like that.... I sometimes buff it with an emery board.... then put any kind of cream on it that does absolutely nothing. At least they aren't on my face.... I would cover them up with make-up probably.
My old school chum has a few large ones on her face, but doesn't do anything about them.... nor does she do her hair, or any kind of make-up.... Doc said even if she froze them off, they would come back.... she calls them barnacles! Hah! An old Sailor patient told her about that.....
-
when your derma does a skin check, they should check where the sun doesn't shine. Bottom of feet, under arms, lady parts. Skin Ca can and does pop up everywhere. I know of a woman who got melanoma in her eye. Now mets to brain.
