boy madgs, sound like you were on quite a trip...all by yourself. Glad Mets look better and you're not seeing little green men anymore

Lover, that is not called a vacation :(. So sorry your dad had to experience that. I thought to myself, isn't it enough in one lifetime to rescue his own family on a small boat...not knowing the outcome. The rest of his life should be perfect. We know that's not how it works, but are emotions sure wish it did. And you and your kids to see that. Very very happy the outcome was positive. Hugs and prayers to you and your family. I hope your dad fully recovers :)

Saw two movies these past few days. La la land and Manchester by the sea. I didn't like either. Suppose to be two best rated. I think there is something wrong with me 😬😜🍷

Mags, I'll bet it was the morphine that did it. They gave me dilaudid at urgent care and I had to read a newspaper full of those little filler things they use to make the columns come out right. Fortunately, mine didn't last as long. That must have been miserable. Hugs.

Good evening, thought I would actually try and post tonight more than just pics.  Hope everyone is doing well.  I'm still keeping busy with work, and still feel like I have foggy brain (how long does it last after chemo?)  Doing ok on the tamoxifen,  but do feel like my knee joints are a bit more sore, I know I'm not drinking enough water and have been drinking too many mocha's.  But getting up at 5 every day is kicking my butt, and I say I need the caffeine.

Shep-I loved your poem, and I like that you are a "trouble maker". There isn't enough of us in the world ;).

Junie-Do you have Kirby now? Are you snuggled into the hotel? So glad that you took the advice from my previous post.  I'm still pissed about reading that the hospital denied you a voucher.

Mamma-got to see the pic of you and your wig. You look great.

Lover-prayers for your dad for a speedy recovery. I hope the rest of your vacation was good

Hi Jazzy, Chevy, Feline, Smaarty, Susan and Poppy and anyone else that I might of missed. Looking forward to lunch on Friday.

Mags-sorry about your phone! And someone stole your I-pad......people suck.

Actually, Wren, it wasn't so much miserable as it was amusing. The hallucinations, at least. Not being able to be mobile without help was pretty miserable. But the hallucinations were just strange, because I knew the things weren't there. I was riding in the car with my cousin and when I shut my eyes there was a movie playing inside my eyelids. Once I watched a highly polished wood wall as it blossomed into a bas-relief and came to life. There were so many different kinds of things!

I had dilaudid in the hospital for the headache from hell. Both oral and iv, didn't do much.

I'm now getting some in-home PT, and since I had no phone, I had no notice and was unprepared for the thoroughness of the intake, and the invasiveness of it all. Fortunately I have nothing to hide, she checked out all my meds, including OTC, checked the bottles themselves, checked out bathroom/shower facilities, met my caregivers, and won my heart by loving on my doggies. Think I'll keep her. 2x a week x4 weeks to start. That should take us to next PET scan. Just doing some mild stretching/strengthening, no pain.

Loverly, good to have you back, and will be praying that your dad's recovery is complete.

Spookie, what do you mean Sam???

    image

He just gets better, I think.

M0mmy, I found a pure magnesium oil spray that's great for leg cramps. If you get them often (even from doggie's inconsiderate sleeping position) might be worth it to help iron out the kinks. I have that problem with Olivia, as she favors sleeping on my belly or thighs, or curling up behind my knees when I'm on my side. I've typed this whole post with one finger because she's in my belly now. Well, I guess it's the softest place. Oh! Speaking of Olivia, while all this was going on with me, she had her first heat

Holy shamoli Maggs! You were on a TRIP !!!! Morphine???? If nothing else, that stuff will plug you up until NEXT Christmas !

"Breakthrough Pain" ???? She says???? More like "I'm just gonna check out and let my brain go wild, and see what mischief I can get into"...

I had a Morphine "drip" after I had my back surgery, but I didn't go through all those things YOU did! If I did, I don't remember.... Hah! Besides I was in bed, and not walking for awhile... and you saw a MAN in a green shirt???? That was Sam. No more Sam for you! And I don't understand anything about Olivia anything.... And you had a dil.... a diludodad in the Hospital? along with Sam???

And I thought my mind was a picnic! I have to go back and read this chit like 4 times to figure it out!

You make it fun, anyway girl! So glad your mets are down... And YES! When those canes hit the ground, they even scare ME! Not to mention everyone else in the Starbucks'!

Go get you a computer with a big screen.... something you don't have to carry around and drown, drop or lose! Like a 26" monitor on the thing!

Okay..... I love reading about your tales... but don't like when you are hurting.... so glad you like your caregivers.....! WAIT JUST A MINUTE !!

WHO are these people??? Would we approve?? Are any of them women?

Loverly.... how is your Dad? You sure get quiet when things aren't right...

Spookie! Are you sure you won't come here anytime soon? For Lunch or something? It is going to be 2 below 0 tonight.... And snow all over the place. I mean not even EYE want to be here... Ha!

    morning all.

Lover, Hope your dad keeps improving each day. Obviously he made it home with you guys? Hope you can meet us for lunch. We all need to play catch up.

Yes Susan, we will miss you but Elena more ;) is she crawling everywhere now? Today is Evies birthday! They will be coming home in early February to celebrate.

Mags, wow, sounds weird and fascinating at the same time. I had a friend who hallucinated like that from pain pills. Don't know what she took. Sometimes you just don't know how your brain will work until you take something. Have you never had morphine before? I always tell them no morphine when I have sx, I have a hard time waking up on it.

Took GD to airport last night, what a wild ride coming home, windy, blow the cars around kind of wind, raining sideways and cold. She's 15, knows everything right? She had on 2 tops but nothing that covered her belly button! She going to freeze! She landed about midnight in Denver! Hopefully she'll learn!

Got to go, have to take mom to doc appt. she has wax built up in both ears and part of her hearing aid stuck in one side. So no hearing test until we get that cleaned up.

Wow Mags that was quite the experience you had, good news on the reduction of lung mets. I hope you continue to feel better everyday.

Smaarty.... It is freezing here! Snowing, and blowing! The closer you drive West towards the mountains, the worse it is.... At least she made it here, before all the flights were cancelled! I remember going to San Francisco visiting my folks there.... EVERY time, I bought another jacket! It was cold there too, but nothing like here! We are under a storm "warning" now.... But all ya gotta do is look out the window, and see the snow.... Hah!

I got my new hearing aids.... but I'm still working on cleaning the wax build-up out of my ears also.... The Ear Candles work for me.... I would just like to use one, and have nothing come out! Then I would know they are clear. The wax is "different" than a blockage, like I had a couple times before.... usually caused from dried blood. I can hear with my aids, but the wax does make a difference! So far I got about as much as a small egg! In just one ear! The specialist said, he couldn't see my ear-drum in my left ear, so I have been working on it.

Thank you, my tribal peeps for your prayers, words of comfort & encouragement through PMs, texts, posts, and emails regarding dad. He is sleeping a lot these past few days probably from the Gabapentin and Tramadol. His pain has somewhat improved and he will be seeing a neurologist early next month. He has new pain in his right knee so his Primary Care Doc ordered an XRay of his thoracic and lumbar spine. They didn't do that at the hospital in Hawaii because his chief complaints was mainly neck related. Dad is such a good sport, an ideal patient. Hardly complains. He thinks about others while he is miserable himself. While waiting for the CT and XRay results he was more worried about the kids and grand kids and our friends waiting in the ER to see how he was doing. All the nurses, docs, PT, and OT people at the hospital loved him. I think if it was not for his hard of hearing he would crack jokes with people who cared for him. Ha! He was so grateful for the staffs and was really touched by their compassion. Well except for the two CT techs at the first hospital on the Big Island. He didn't tell me this until days later that when he was in the CT machine he had to endure the extreme heat. " I think they forgot to turn on the AC. I was so hot, but tried really hard not to move or complain. After what seemed like an hour later I knew that this was not right. So I started to bang on the machine with my heels and told them that I need to get out and if they don't let me out I am going to die in there of heat and thirst." When you are short in your service, someone will suffer. The incident probably contributed to Dad's stress level of being in the hospital (his first) . He had normal blood works at the ER, but had SIH (stress induced hyperglycemia) and abnormal CBC and electrolytes the next day. Never had high blood sugar before. I feel so bad for him.

I have to consciously remind myself that it was an accident and it could happen to anyone. You tend to think that this only happens to other people. When I was around seven or eight, I witnessed a drowning. The kid was my age and a son of my dad's friend. The image of people trying to resuscitate the kid is still edged in my memory after 40 years. I need to look at the "bright side" (interesting phrase btw as Jesus claimed to be the light). Dad is here with us and this ordeal has brought mom and dad closer. She doesn't nag at him as usual because she is busy caring and nurturing him back to health....I think so she can start nagging him again. Ha! We all teased him that he intentionally turned off his hearing aid when he was around mom and the very reason he did not want a better hearing aid.

Talk about hearing aid, I have a silly story. Not very long ago my younger brother took him to Costco (I think) to get a better hearing aid. DB had to fill out paperwork for Dad and one of the optional question was what was your occupation. Unbeknownst to dad DB put down stripper DB said you should have seen the female clerk's face when she saw the answer. She looked at dad first with a serious astonished look and then with a half smile trying not to burst out laughing when she figured it out. The whole time Dad had no clue why the clerk kept smiling and looking at him. DB told dad later on and he busted out laughing and scolded my DB at the same time.

Meadow, you have such a gentle and kind spirit. Thank you! I am glad to hear surgery corrected your problem. I read that success rate for similar surgery is 16%. Hopefully, Dad will not need surgery. We are icing the area in hope that it will take the swelling down. Drop in whenever you get a chance.

Eeyore!! Yes, it was God's grace that Dad was spared from paralysis or drowning. You know what was interesting was when he realized that he couldn't move and went down he panicked, but then heard a voice that someone will come to rescue him. Dad is not a Christian and does not practice Buddhism. And yes he was born in the year of the dragon, but not a dragon at all. I don't think he has any enemies.

Oh Mags, that was an interesting and a scary experience at the same time. Crazy how the altered chemistry in the brain cause a person to see and hear things. I have not had Morphine before. Norco makes me more wacko than usual. I didn't have the visual , but I think I did have auditory hallucination. Emergency sirens in full blast. The PT sounds like a neat person. Hopefully, she can help you regain your strength back. Happy to hear of the reduction in mets. Yay!!!

Ms. Chevy, thank you for your words of wisdom, as usual. I am sure you had a great time with Janie yesterday. I am sorry to hear that she is still struggling with the numbness in her arms. When your love ones hurt, you hurt with them and can't help but worry. I have been busy trying to take care of Mom's car and dealing with insurance . She is covered under our insurance. She got into an accident back in Sac while we were in Hawaii. When it rains, it pours. Well, I again need to look at the "bright side". She was not injured and was not at fault (per our insurance for now). I am grateful for that. She was supposed to go to Florida to help my Sis with the new baby (6lbs, 6oz, 20 inches) born the day after Christmas. She and Sis are healthy, another reason to be grateful.

Forward, I think I would get depressed if I lived where you and Ms. Chevy live. I can handle a few days of no sunshine, but I need the sun.

    Jazzy, has work slowed down?

Sensi, I feel bad for people who have to return to work full time after chemo. Hopefully, you will regain your energy soon. How is Chance with the new buddy? Mitzy is moping around again now that DD went back to LA. She left this Monday and DD2 started school today. She is my shadow today.

JunieB, thinking of you and can't wait to hear your report.

ShepK, sinus any better? Ah, no whiskey! Don't need any more trouble. Haha!

Peppy, thank you! Will see you all this Friday.

Ms. S, Yeah, 15 year old teen agers knows everything. We had some crazy weather yesterday.Dd2 was afraid the wind would break her bedroom window.

Mommy, ooh no fun getting leg cramps. I usually try to pull or point my toes toward my head. It will break the spasm.

Ms. Spookie, I guess your body acclimate to the warmer weather. We met a retired widower in Hawaii who used to live in Maryland. He said that the 70's temp they get in Hawaii in December is now too cold for him. Ha!

WildT, hope your first day back is not too taxing for you. Love that you have dates with the kids. Has joint pain improved? It is interesting how we have Estrogen receptor all over our central nervous and even cardiovascular system. The scholars believe that estrogen depletion can cause joint pain secondary to increased inflammation.

    Kath, how are you?

Susan, yeah. What a vacation! I will try to focus on the happier times with dad as Ms. Spookies suggested. He still tries to joke with the condition he is in. Monday when I took him to see the doctor, he told me he feels like an old man walking with a cane and laughing at the same time. He must had forgotten he is 76.

Feline, thank you for sharing the photos of your DD. So graceful and beautiful.

Loverly!!! OMD!!!! You are still raising your Parents! Your Dad isn't really "old".... Keep telling him that! It is all a state of mind... I have to keep telling PapaG he is not old either! He... WE, just turned 79... And I don't feel old at all.... Just that some things hurt sometimes, but I deal with it.

Pretty soon he will ditch that cane.... just tell him to take it easy.... A cane is better than a walker! Tell your Mom & Dad that they had better straighten up, and not get themselves into any more trouble.... that you can't take it.... Hah!

I think it best you don't have ANYone on your insurance! I mean having kids, and them learning to drive is scary enough! Will your Mom keep her license? Can she get insurance on her own? That would be best.... I remember when we first got married, HIS folks wanted us to sign for them to get furniture.... So we DID..... Then of course, they did not make payments! It really hurt our credit, because we signed for them! WE had to pay off their furniture, because MY inlaws were a MESS!

But I learned! Oh, the things my FIL tried to pull on us! I didn't ever say much.... but MAN, I would now! Just to say, he was not a nice man..... Neither was she. Never even wanted to watch our girls, or take them shopping, or pretend they were Grandparents! No excuses.... But that's okay.... It was better that they never got to watch them....

Still snowing here...HARD! Only 10 degrees.... "feels like 4".... Hah!

Loveroflife- I am glad your dad is doing better. Sometimes things need to get put aside when someone is not doing well. Glad your mom is taking good care of your dad and let the bickering go. Wishing you and the family better days. Who does that baby belong to? Beautiful photos

I finished my project last Friday! Whoot whoot! I have something new I am working to develop on that may begin in another month or so, and taking some time off to get caught up on many accrued needs. Free at last, free at last! November and December were brutal but we got the project live and then I had a short wrap up period over the holidays.

Mags- it is good to hear from you but sorry to hear about the vertigo. Good to hear the lung mets are responding to treatment. Sending you big hugs friends

Chevy- this one is for you with all the cold and snow. Somewhere this is some dumb guy doing this too!

Loverly - I am so sorry to hear about your Dad's injury. Thankful he is doing better though. I hope and pray he will make a full recovery.

Mags - Holey Moley! You had quite the trip. I have heard similar stories from other people before though. One lady saw pink fairies flying in her room and another man saw spider webs with big spiders crawling all over. Such different experiences.

So happy to hear that your lung mets are getting smaller. Isn't Olivia your kitty?

Now for a chuckle, check out what this clutzy clutz did Monday night on the way to the bathroom:

    image

Foot swollen and uncomfortable to walk on.

Kirby is home and doing well. The plane noises scared the bejeebers out of him. I had to tuck him into my sweat jacket and then he fell asleep. It was a long day for us both. He ate & drank as soon as we got home. I guess too much stress for him to eat before. He is a very busy puppy. Into everything. I have to watch him every minute. He had never been on a leash, so he was not happy with that new change, but I have walked him twice today and he is getting more accepting of the leash already. Potty training is gonna be a job. I need to learn his signals and he needs to learn the appropriate places. It will all come in time. He is so tiny that I can't let him sleep with me yet, but he slept in his crate very nicely and didn't complain. The breeder had already had him used to a crate, so that has helped.

During my conversation with the breeder yesterday she was able to further calm my concerns about what to do with Kirbs if my health takes a turn for the worse. She apparently knows a couple only 20 miles from me who would come a get Kirby if need be and Anna (the breeder) would come from Idaho to get him. Her family loves the Kirbs too. Even if it is 5 or more years from now. Whew!

The apartment complex I live in is one where the tenants are all older or disabled. There are some who have nothing better to do with their time than spread malicious gossip or lies and make frivolous reports to management regularly. Anyway, it is those very people who are at present in a tizzy about me getting a puppy, because they are saying they can't understand why I'd get a dog since he will outlive me anyway. Apparently, these people have me dead and buried already. Such incredible ignorance and I know that is what it is, but it upsets me still. I really wish I had NEVER told anyone here about my Dx. Too late now.

Chevy - I so enjoy reading your posts. Your are so full of joy, wisdom, and humor.

Sensi - Sorry you're struggling with the fatigue and joint pain. It is a real challenge. Do you take an anti-inflammatory to help?

Anyway, Hi to everyone else I missed. Have a great evening.

Glad your puppy is home. I remember you telling us your neighbors were awful. I hope with time you can find a better place to live if that is a possibility. Those people are miserable and jealous. Their problem, not yours sister. You have looked forward to this a long time, don't let people that do not matter rain on your parade sister.

one thing I did when Spookie was really tiny was to put her crate on my bed by my pillow. When she had to go in the middle of the night I could hear her and get to her fast. Then when she stayed dry at night, I taught her to stay and sleep between the 2 pillows so I wouldn't squash her. 7 years later she still does.Shes 8# under all that hair.

junie, wow that looks like it hurts. Very happy you got Kirby. We want pictures:). When I had Marley:( for my short period, I refreshed my memory on potter training. One hour for every month. That's about how long they can hold it. And as a side note, 3 miles is to long for a walk. Luckily Marley was only 5 ish pounds, so I could carry her when she stopped...lol. Get better and have fun. My hubby doesn't want another dog either, cause if I die, he doesn't want to be saddled with a dog. I was sad, but now I am very busy with Elena, and don't know if puppy training or even getting an older dog would work right now. Shelby is still here, 16 next month. I have had a dog since I was 10, not sure how to be without one.

Lover, glad your dad is in good spirits:). Hope you are coping well too.

Susan - Thanks for the potty guideline. I'd never heard that one before. Now I know how often to make sure Kirby goes out. When I take him out he is already very good when I say "Go Potty" He runs around a bit and then squats and does his thing.

Here he is in his carrier at the Spokane Airport.

JazzyG - Thank you for the support and encouragement. You are so right. I allow myself to get too focused on the obnoxiousness of other people. I need to continually remember your advice.

junie, how little is he? Hard to see size, need a pic of you holding him! You don't need a head shot of you, just up to your chin 😆. You should also print out that meme and put it on your door or print out small ones to pass out to others. Also, are you soaking that toe? That should help reduce the swelling.

Doc visit for mom went well, he pulled out a chuck about 1/2" long and removed the broken part of the hearing aid from the order ear. Says she can hear better. She still wants a hearing test, so will have to get that setup.

Lover, sweet baby girl! Now we'll have more baby pics to see. Evie with her cake.

Aww so precious. Looks like she wants to share. She is so pretty.

Maybe I should check Dad's ear for wax. He has a hard time hearing even with his hearing aid.

Jazzy, that is my youngest Sis' baby. She is the one that lives in Florida. The same one who got married last year. Are you getting torrential rain there too? Are you still doing yoga? Peppy asked me to join her, but the times of the yoga class she goes to conflict with my schedule. Would love to go back to it again.

Junie, what in the world did you kick? Hopefully, not one of the tenants in the same apartment complex. Hope you are icing the toe. Do you have one of those indoors artificial grass for Kerby to do his business at night? I can't imagine going out in the cold every few hours at night with your respiratory problem. Are you better? I think we need to get you this sign:
