Dr. Sheldon Feldman - New York Presbyterian
I received a letter today from NY Presbyterian informing me that Dr. Feldman is leaving as of December 30. I know there are several members of this board who used him as their surgeon. I am pretty upset since my surgeon from my first BC left Weill Cornell and when I had a recurrence I was back to square one. I transferred all my care yo NYP and now my second surgeon is leaving. I dont need a surgeon right now but its good to know there is one there in case i do. I am hoping my oncologist doesn't leave.

i received the same letter. Dr. feldman did my mastectomy. He is a wonderful surgeon and person. I was scheduled to have an appointment with him on January 9! Now that is cancelled. Does anyone know where heis going? Is he staying in NYC?
-
No. I am hoping someone does and will post. I have an appointment in December and hope he keeps it. He missed my last one this summer.

when my husband's surgeon left NYP, the doc sent his own letter announcing he was leaving and letting his patientsknow where he was going. Hopefully Dr. Feldman will do the same! In the meantime if anyone knows, please post!
-
Ditto. Hoping to learn if he will be joining another hospital. I certainly will follow him. Please share any new info you may have. He's the BEST, most humane breast cancer doctor I've ever known, and I'm also concerned about him and what to do now.

I got this letter too yesterday and am quite upset. I was scheduled to see him for a followup in February... If anybody knows where he is going, please post here! Any info on the remaining surgeons at NYP breast cancer practicewill be highly appreciated too.

Dr, Feldman is going to Montefiore, so yes, he is staying in NYC. I have no information on the other breast surgeons at Columbia Presbyterian apart from what is on the NYP website. I also do not know who will be taking Dr. Feldman's place as head of breast surgery at Columbia.

Thank you, lenoir! I wonder if it's possible to make an appointment at Montefiore for the next year or if they will be taking appointments after Dr Feldman starts there... Does anybody know what is the reputation of their breast cancer center? And of the hospital overall?
-
Thank you so much for posting. As a person who grew up in the Bronx, I know Montefiore well. They just were in the news for being the hospital where the conjoined twins were successfully separated. I'm glad he will still be in the area if I need a surgeon again.

Yes Dr. Feldman is going to Montefiore Hospital in the Bronx. Its a university based teaching hospital affiliated with Albert Einstein University. Its a great facility. For me its a little harder to get to but its worth it. Dr. Feldman is a wonderful man and brilliant surgeon.
