INSOMNIACS place to talk in the wee hours

Junie, How are you feeling? Are you doing Albuterol or Pulmicort nebs? Yes..I know a tad (understatement) about nebs. So the weather is supposed to be cold, but it sounds like clear for the trip to get Kirby? I read on one BCO thread that someone was told by her MO to get a flu shot in the fall, and again in Jan or Feb. I second whoever said you should check with your Dr.
Shep, You are naughty in the best possible way!
MammaRay, So glad you had fun with the wig..makes me smile. Instead of goal to make it to 2018, I'm requesting that it be A LOT longer than that.
Smaarty, Such talent to be able to knit your knockers! (I don't think it's weird to tell her so, after all, I have a friend who can't wait to feel my new squishies.) I also wish there was a cure for nighttime busy brain!!
Chevy, Dog snacks in your pocket...careful you don't get chased down the street by a pack of dogs!
Hello to everyone I missed.
I'm home tonight, with a few movies from the library. One of my aunt and uncles invited me over for a party, but I didn't want to drive a half hour and hang out with a bunch of people I don't know. When I was 17 my step mom was killed in a car crash on New Year's Eve day. It wasn't drinking related, it was morning and she was going to work, but just another reason I don't like to be out on the roads unnecessarily. Tomorrow afternoon is my date with DD, and she wants to shop at the Disney store. My kids are so easy to please. Besides the princesses, she likes the fairies, so that's why I came up with the pixie dust comment. In fact, I have a Tinker Bell doll in my bedroom right now. One night when DD was going to be away she decided I needed to snuggle with one of her dolls, and it has stayed with me since then.
May you each have a peaceful New Year!
-
WildGrrrrl ~ Where were you yesterday when they all was so mean? Thank you friend for sticking up for me 😊
I don't care much for going out on New Years' either. Too much forced happiness and waaay too much drinking. Accidents happen easily enough without all the liquor. I'm so sorry you lost your Step-Mom so tragically when you were so young. She must have been very special to you for you to have kept her so close in your heart.
Disney Store outing!!!! I love Disney! Marti has a Tinkerbell and a Snow White costume 'cuz she is a fairy princess too. Very impressive that DD would share her Tink with you ~ certainly a sign of a Best Mom Ever 💜
MammaRay ~ You look so cute as a redhead! Yes, a goal to make happy memories 💕
FFH is pesting me to go next door for a little bit...thpppppppp.
Warmest wishes to all for a wonderful 2017 free of pain and worry - and full of happiness and love 🤗
-
Shep, Yes, my step mom was special to me. Yesterday I took the kids to the library, cooked, cleaned and my mom came over for several hours. By 7 pm I was falling asleep while sitting up. I may be delayed, but I've got your back! DD does have a very sweet heart, and it's all her. You know I want to see Marti in her costumes now!! Take care!

WildT - I use the Albuterol neb. Plus, the coughing has continued to be persistent, so I called doctor today and got a script for codeine cough syrup.
After reading Sensi's post about listening to our bodies I have realized just how rough this all day trip to pick up Kirbs is going to be on me, so I made a hotel reservation in Portland next to the Airport and will take the bus the rest of the way home on the next day after Kirby & I have had some sleep. Now I need to make sure I have everything I need to spend a night away from home.
Happy New Year to Everyone!

May the new year bring peace and compassion for all.
With Love,
Teka -
Some of you are already in 2017. Some of us are almost there. Be safe!
-
Happy New Years everyone!
Junie, have you tried Dayquil, and Nyquil for your cough? That worked better for me, along with antibiotics and the Nebulizer than the Tessalon Pearls did! Is your problem Asthma or Bronchitis, or both? And have you tried those sinus rinses? And a humidifier?
I get out the "big guns" whenever I get that bad....
Kirby is waiting for you! HAPPY NEW YEAR!

If you want to see the new bald eagle chick in Florida, click above.
By the time I posted that and went back to look, she was sitting on them again. One has hatch but not the other.
We made it to 2017 and I even was up past midnight.
-
And her is a continuous live feed watching mama and her baby in Florida! Did any of you watch the Owls Molly & McGee raise their babies in California? I was so fascinated with this!

But if you just go to the link, you can see it a log larger.... and full screen!

Yeah! We made it to 2017. I was waiting for my last 2 loads of laundry to dry when the fireworks started to go off at midnight. I had lost track of time and it startled me. It was so loud, I thought maybe someone had fallen outside my apt. and went outside to check, then more fireworks and I looked at the clock and realized it was midnight already. Wow!
Only 2 more days until the Kirbster comes home! Yeah!
Chevy - I'll have to check out the Eagle Cam. I have asthma, and right now probably bronchitis since this has hit me so hard. The cough is wearing me out and making my ribs hurt. It has been two weeks now and I am so ready for this to be done with. My C-PAP has a humidifier on it, the cough syrup has codeine in it and with the nebulizer I use Albuterol, I am hoping to see light at the end of the tunnel soon.
What are Tessalon Pearls?
Hey Spookie - How cold is it there today? ;0)
I'll check back later ladies. Have I good first day of January.

Happy New Year everyone! Hoping for a 2017 full of the best health possible for each of us.
Having a restful afternoon, should be putting things away and cleaning up from the holidays but the grandbaby and family went home today so I'm just reflecting on all I have to be thankful for. Only see him a few times a year but its very sweet each time. They grow so fast!
My Gus kitten however is glad to have the house and his "mom" back and is very needy, which truthfully helps. Makes me think of JunieB and how wonderfully different your house will be in a few days.
WildT - thats so sad losing your stepmom young and so tragically. I'm thankful for Uber these days, one of my kids uses it when they go out. However last night I got to thinking I hope the Uber driver was in a safe car and a good driver...mom always has to worry. Thank goodness my mom never knew half of what we did, I'll be honest drinking and driving happened and we were stupid and lucky. Glad times have changed in that regard.

people don't think it gets cold here, but for us, it is. HUSH Chevy
-
JunieB, I have very mild asthma but occasionally get congested and had bronchitis twice. My allergist prescribes Q-Var. i take two puffs in the morning and two at night. It really helps. You might want to ask your doc about it. Glad you are taking your time bringing Kirby home. I'm soooo excited for you.
Spookie, you should be ashamed of yourself calling those temps cold. LOL. No wonder Chevy gives you a hard time.
Mamma, darn I missed your pic wearing the wig. Nothing like being a ginger.
Happy New Year to all

happy new year everyone
Hope and pray we all have a blessed 2017
Juneb, I know I am a few pages behind..my onc says no shots on chemo. Won't hurt, but the chemo negates them. That's what he says. I think there are different opinions out there, even among oncs.
Hubby, and all are getting better. This one hung on for most. I fared the best...go figure. We had Elena for an overnighter, all by ourselves. They just picked her up. I will be in bed shortly...lol. It is sooooo precious. We have such a great connection. So peaceful and cuddly. It's wonderful
Hate to take the tree down. It's so pretty. I think our garbage tree pick up is next week
And yes, still locked out of email. Set up another one, but haven't told anyone yet. I didn't forget password. Got shut down cause someone tried to hack. Can only get back in with some kind of registration number. Set it up 18 years ago. Never gonna find that number. So the help line couldn't help
All those in pain and those with upcoming surgeries...you are in my prayers:)
Bewell everyone
-
41 is too #%&$ cold. Go back and check this coming sat night.
Chevy is stuffing herself with meatballs and Starbucks now. She can't yell at me.
-
Well 1.5 days until Kirby comes home.

Susan, I'm taking our tree down on Thursday
(. My nutcracker collection will stay up a little longer.
As for shots, my MO says to get them on OFF cycle weeks so they won't conflict with the chemo as much. Always remember that even on off weeks there will still be some chemo in your system.

Spookiesmom please send the 41 here, that would be a heat wave for us.
Junie , Kirby is very cute. I hope you have good weather and are feeling better for your trip.
LIta we took our tree down a couple of days ago, as much as I like Christmas it is good to get back to normal. I have spent the last 10 days cooking, my daughter and her partner were over for dinner tonight. Fingers crossed someone will make me a dinner next Christmas season
-
Anyone awake tonight?
-
I was trying to post a cute meme, but when I do, it doesn't show up.
Anyway...anyone awake tonight?
-
Junie, Sounds like you are doing everything in your power to get better. Kirby is SO cute!
Poppy, So good you had nice time with family.
Spookie, single digits for MN later this week. Want to visit?!
-
Quick "Hello" and "Goodnight"! Stupid sinus headache has kept me offline- blah.
JunieB had reminded me of Mags posting a cute saying a while back about us "weirdos" finding our "tribe" here. Certainly the bestest tribe there ever could be!
🎵 Oh give me a home
Where Insomniacs roam,
So full of love and laughter and play.
Where seldom is heard,
a discouraging word,
And Dunedin's toasty all day!
Home, home of the Strange
Where everything's always okay.
We're never bored,
We've got baby pics galore,
And half nekid men come to parade! 🎵

Oh, MammaRay, I'm so glad you did vent to us. I completely agree!! Something happened to me on Christmas Eve, and I wasn't going to share, but now I am. Read to the end, because there is a point..
I was sitting around a table talking with my mom, two cousins and a couple others. The cousins are the daughter's of my mom's sister, who died in the early 90's. My aunt died of cancer and when it was discovered, she went in a matter of months. My aunt did not share much of what was going on with her illness, so when my mom and cousins got together (they haven't much over the years) they began talking about everything leading up to the death of my aunt. Then someone said how old she was when she died..exactly the age that I am right now. So I'm sitting there..still dealing with my after-treatment stuff, next to my mom who has leukemia, and we were supposed to be celebrating Christmas. I got up and left the table. Not only couldn't I handle it, but it then just put me in a somber mood for the rest of the day. So, my point is that it IS all around us, and it stinks and there is nothing we can do to make it go away. Unfortunately those of us here have a heightened sense and emotion about cancer. It is perfectly acceptable to walk away and cocoon yourself when needed.
BTW, I sincerely hope and apologize I am not offending anyone with mets or in active treatment. I am not saying we should run away from people who have cancer, which is why I didn't mention this story last week. It's kind of like the oxygen mask thing..sometimes you have to make sure you can breath yourself, before you can help someone else.
Love and hugs all around.
