Vinnie is coming to San Diego in January. I always said I would never pay that much for tattoos--it felt ridiculous, there are starving children in the world, my days of earning my living as a stripper are over, etc.--but since San Diego is just a short train ride away, I caved. I am giving myself this gift. January 10 is the day I'll put the cherries on the cupcakes.

I've always been very open with all of this, so my new challenge will probably be keeping my shirt buttoned. I know I'll want to show off the new girls!

I wonder if anyone can help me make a decision re nipple. On this thread it appears more ladies are in favour with nipple tattoos than reconstruction. Has anyone had both and have any thoughts or advice which is better?

I am unsure what I should do.

    Thanks for advice

As far as I know with nipple reconstruction there are three options

    1. 3D tattoing:

2: just do the nipple and have the areola tattoed

    3. Have nipple formed and areola formed from a donor site then tattoed to match.

I had nipple reconstruction some plastic surgeons just do the center nipple and have the areola tattoos on(method 2).Mine did both nipple and areola reconstruction where he took tissue from my abdomen( also sometimes do the inner thigh) and made areolas that grafted onto my breast(method 3). Then a year later I had micropigmentarion tatoos to match my original color.

They micropigmentation color at the plastic surgeons office only lasts around 2-5 years but I would have chosen to travel and have them permanently tattooed through Vinnie just didn't trust anyone local. So far I am happy with the results. I had before pictures to match and the person doing it had a lot of experience. I know eventually I will have to recolor them if they fade but for now it was a decision I was comfortable with and it was covered by my insurance.

BUT...One advantage of the 3D tatoo ( Method 1) over nipple reconstruction( method 2 or 3) is that you will never have to wear a bra or have nipple marks in your shirt . In nipple reconstruction you have permanent headlights. Because it takes real art to make the illusion work 3d Tatoos it really matters who does it. without the nipple part reconstructed most people do go to Vinnie or someone who has done a ton of nipple tattoing to get the 3D effect.

Some of it does depend on what is available near you and whether or not you travel. Cost can also be an issue. Just make sure you trust whoever you choose and see pictures first. They need to be experienced.

Thank you exercise guru for such an informed explanation re nipple reconstruction. If I opt for 3D nipple tattoos which is what I am leaning towarda I will have to travel to Vinnie as he sounds like the person to trust.

My second option would be do nipple and then tattoo areola which I could easily get done in the UK.

I Will have a word with my plastic surgeon and ask to see photos before I make final decision.

I had a failed bilateral DIEP and was very traumatised by the experience. I now have silicone implants . The right one recently on the 20th Dec when my expander was replaced.

I still follow the DIEP 2016 . Maybe I should stop reading that thread as it makes me feel regretful that mine was unsuccessful.

Anyway I am grateful I am alive and well and moving forwards

    Thanks

I had nipple reconstruction and then regular tatoos through my PS. They looked pretty good. The nipple reconstruction has flattened out a fair amount, so I don't wear a bra real often on loose shirts. The tatoos have lightened considerably, and I either plan to go to Vinnie, or ther is a plastic surgeon in town who has an artist come in who does 3d tatoos now. Just have to decide.

Maybe you can find someone in Britain. If I had someone local who was experienced I would definitely go with the permanent tatoo rather than the micropigmentation dyes. As for the nipples mine have flattened but they are still headlights. I do wish I did not have to wear a bra but alas it is very obvious if I do not....... Not sure it was my best idea now but to be honest it looks quite natural.

There is one link on Vinne Myers site to a UK tattooist -- Richard Burley Of Adrenalin Tattoos, Luton. Burley died suddenly end of August 2016, yet the business continues. Here is the link to the website: http://3d-areola.com/index.html

I have yet to have my nipple & areola tattooed and this is where I'll have it done when I decide to ink. Not been impressed with the medical tattoo results that the person my PS refers to.

    Your welcome

the nice aspect of this is you don't need to feel rushed in making a decision. One reason I did go with the reconstruction is because I have a preteen daughter and a bad GENE so I felt that she needed to see her mom have a natural reformed breast. I wish I could see some 3D results in real life the pictures just look amazing. I will say that I was very happy with my nipple recon and I was someone who fought very hard to have nipple sparing but couldn't.
