Radiation--pain??
Comments

Made it to first rad treatment--pretty scary but felt prepared thanks to this site but---I know I felt one of those doses---am I crazy? Should I worry that will happen each time? It was one of the shorter ones thankfully.
Any help appreciated--also any other tips

Sad to say I never received any responses. But had 3 more treatments with no feeling! Techs said some have reported a short feeling but still curious how many others ever felt anything.

I too felt first and skin was extremely dark between breast after first, but has since returned to pink. Second and third felt nothing. I've got no idea as to why although that area is the most sensitive after surgery could be, or in my case at least. Chances are there are more as well folks like us. Hang in there as you are never all alone. Hugs

Tbirdy321 you are not crazy! I was also told you don't feel anything and absolutely did. Mine was a sensation of warmth on my treated breast and an occasional zing of something else but not really pain. I was in the prone position and the hair on my arms also felt static every single time. I have had discussions with my RO and the dosemetrist about my treatment plan and what I feel and they look at me like I am an anxious mess. I don't think anyone who HAS NOT experienced radiation can discount what you feel, and each person's response to treatment is different. It does get easier, and I have had to work hard to try and relax and not think about expecting to feel something. I have found counting during each treatment and machine change helpful as a distraction, and also as a mental cue it is almost over. Three more boost to go for me
Peaceful thoughts!!!

I just finished my fifth radiation tx today. They give me 8 zaps and I always know when they do my axilla. It isn't pain, just awareness like I can feel it penetrating my skin. I had a ALND and feeling is starting to return! I asked the radiation techs if it was possible that I could feel the rads. They looked at me like I was crazy, but I am not!😲

Went through 6 weeks of it almost 4 years ago - never felt a thing during the actual zapping, but my breast did get enlarged and tender by the end of the treatment.

2yorkies,
Sorry to hear I am not alone!! Thankfully the 1st treatment was only one I felt! But today after 3 days off due for session 15 tommorrow my skin is very irritated--maybe tank top on eliptical today?? Not sure but very worried and applying aloe all day. If anyone has any other suggestions--they would be welcome for sure.
Thanks

I felt like I could feel the RADs hitting certain areas. I developed a slight cough. The redness swelling and horribly itchy rash was very unpleasant by the end. Only aloe helped me with the itch

At my last treatment (#11) I felt a warm sensation in my chest, it was not pain but was a strange feeling, Also have developed a runny nose that happens right after radiation, seems like a cold but does not developed into a full blown cold and clears up. Also, some shortness of breath.
