Phyllodes tumor, not benign, not malignant, but in between?

Hello, yesterday I called the surgeon about exercise restrictions after my lumpectomy. "Don't lift anything heavier than ten pounds?" They cut into a blob of fat! Fat doesn't need to recover! So although we thought I had a fiberadenoma, learned I have a phyllodes, borderline (benign, borderline, malignant). Wonderful. Just what I wanted to learn right before Christmas, I will return to meet with the surgeon to discuss the plan. To complicate matters, on January 19, 2016, I had open heart surgery to repair an aortic aneurysm so I take blood thinners. Joy to the world.

I knew about my aneurysm for four years before it was repaired. On my other disease forum (how many disease forums must I join? Someday I will probably join a disease forum for people who go on disability because they don't have time to work and keep up on all their disease forums) we called this "the waiting room." Have diagnosis, now wait. At this point, I am inclined to have a mastectomy. I am getting tired of surgery & if I could just get it done, I would. And if I can get reconstruction with a tummy tuck, all the better. Lift and tuck. Are there any members who had this borderline phyllodes; if so, I would love to hear from you. I know this condition is rare, but a few questions I have are:

Does it occur in both breasts, or just one?

Best places for treatment?

Anyone get reconstruction?

I know I sound sarcastic but I am actually a nice person. Don't mean any offense or harm.

Sincerely, Amy

    Hi Amy,

Welcome to Breastcancer.org! We're sorry you had to join another "disease forum", but we're really glad you found us! You're sure to get lots of great support and advice here soon. In the meantime, we just wanted to say hi and let you know that if there's anything we can do to help while you navigate the boards, please don't hesitate to ask.

Also, you may find some helpful information on the main Breastcancer.org site's section on Phyllodes Tumors of the Breast.

    Hi Amy,

Sorry about the recent diagnosis! I am scheduled to have my tumor removed in a couple weeks to determine if it is a fibroadenoma (like originally thought), or if it is a phyllodes tumor. Praying your next visit is more optimistic! From what I've ready about phyllodes tumors there isn't a perfect outcome, but I'd take a healthy outcome over aesthetics. Oh, and tummy tuck? Do it girl! I had one a couple years ago and I kicked myself for not doing it sooner! Not to mention, the cost of them is waaaayyy more affordable than you would think!

    Good Luck!

    Kelly
