Armpit lump

Options

I haven't been here as I've been happily living life post treatment.

Finished chemo in July, had my boob cut off in August and got the wonderful news that I had a pcr to my chemo. Tumor board did not recommend rads, so I listened to them. As a triple negative, I was finished with treatment.

Yesterday I noticed a hard lump in my armpit. It is visible on the surface. I had a nurse friend check it out this morning & she thinks it is either a cyst, swollen node or cancer, given my history. Ugh. I have calls out of my MO and BS. I am absolutely freaking out. It is Christmas & my birthday this week!

I did just read another "freaked out but it was nothing" thread and it seems like this happens sometimes. But I'm scared to death!

Hopefully one of the docs will be able to get you in this week. Unfortunately, lots of offices will probably be closed either Friday or Monday.

I hope that it is nothing and you can continue to go on living life happily post treatment.

Twaz, Definitely insist on getting it checked ASAP. As someone whose doctors "put me off" when I called about a lump, if they cannot get you in to see them, let them know you'll see your primary care in the meantime. He/she can order an ultrasound or MRI. Hoping it is scar tissue, but a biopsy may be the only way to know 100%. Do not let them just feel it and assume it's scar tissue. Keep us posted. Hoping it's benign. Sorry you have to deal with this now. It sucks anytime, but especially around the holidays.

Where in Iowa are you????? (You can pm me if you don't want to post it).

Thanks. I did see my GP yesterday & she thinks it might be a cyst, but because of my history, I get an ultrasound on Thursday.

The lump is further away from my breast & about 3 inches from the scar from where my lymph nodes were removed. Because of the location, I don't think it is scar tissue.

Kbeee- Iowa City area. Treatment at the U. You

Glad you are getting an ultrasound. You never want to mess with lumps!!!

I am between Des Moines and Ames; I am treated in DesMoines. I do get to the U for my dsughters' swim meets from time to time.

Hoping the ultrasound shows nothing concerning

I freaked out about 4 months after I finished treatment when I developed a painful lump in my left armpit. Turned out to be a cebaceous cyst. I'd never had them before, now I get them regularly, especially after shaving. They are swollen for a few days, and then the disappear. Definitely get it checked out, but it could be nothing serious

I also had my lymph nodes removed and found a lump near my armour. I had an u/s today and biopsy tomorrow because the u/s showed it was suspicious. Turns out it's near my armpit on the bit of breast tissue they did not remove during the mastectomy. Keep us updated. Hope it's nothing for the both of us.

I realized today that I never updated.

By the day of my US, it was gone! My doc thinks it may have been a lymph node that was working extra hard.

SKD- I hope you got good news.
