Boy, I can relate to all of you ladies. We just sold our house and bought a smaller, newer simpler one story. We have until the end of January to be out and in to the new one. But with the Holidays and me working full time I am shuddering at the thought of getting everything done. I am trying now to get rid of things, organize, and plan. But it is slow going....I am so looking forward to finally being there, unloaded and cleaned out! Major stress reduction...

Thanks, Deanna, Smurfette, MrsM, singlemom1, and Kjones! It makes me feel good that you are here to share this stuff with. It's a bigger deal to me than most people would realize, and I know you get that. Good luck with the spare room, Smurfette. Is there anyone who could work with you? I felt like I was feeding off the organizer's energy. MrsM, I like your creative idea for making adjustments to the Thanksgiving gathering. Artist, your move is finally becoming a reality. Please pace yourself as you prepare. I'm already breathing a sigh of relief for you.

By the way, I have implemented another of the ideas from earlier: the sanctuary room. My family helped prepare the family room for hosting a small Christmas gathering, so now that room is attractive and livable!

I'm right there with you! And worse my OCD, bipolar husband isn't healthy enough to clean like I used to. Both of our moods are sinking day by day. He entertains outlandish ideas...sell everything. Move to a log cabin. Burn it all.

We have three older teen to young 20ish sons who are on the spectrum, which means they're functioning at the emotional level of 14,15,&17...on a good day. And, they're male. Strike two. Getting them to help is harder than nailing jello to the wall.

My pride and tendency to hide out is being worn down by my depressing surroundings. The dogs are coming dangerously close to extinction or involuntary baldness.

I wish someone would come weekly for a reduced fee. Free is too much guilt. I don't know how long I will live and that will make me feel more guilty if they clean for free. It's been eleven years struggling with stage four breast cancer. I have tried every treatment. I do know how fatigued and pillaged my body's become.... it's no longer able to be the mean, fiend, cleaning machine of old. Pride before the fall yada yada.

Has anyone found a not free, but a cleaning outfit who'll give a nice discounted price to sad, sweaty, raggedy warmed over, once a contender, person who dreams of a nice clean environment? That's a company I could live with!! And call weekly, biweekly, as needed. Share if you've ever heard of such a service. Many thanks. Barb

3boymom, 11 years can be truly exhausting. (Happy for you that you made it this long though.) How about having the free cleaning outfit come for a small donation? I can´t imagine they would refuse it. It will help them and you.

Shetland, I missed your update but glad to see you got what you wanted.

School has re-started and I am back to declutter mode. After the paint job of the apartment, I have a month before the new furniture arrives, including closets and sideboards. For the most part we have been living with DHs furniture from before we were married. Almost 25 years later I get the furniture for our retirement. Lol.

Oh Heidihill, Enjoy every moment with the new furniture! We finally bought a new couch a love seat for our new house and it looks so fresh and modern compared to the old place. Very uplifting.

3boymom, 11 years is a long time to deal with so much. I would be all over the free offer. Maybe bake them some cookies, offer anything you are unloading? Sounds like you have your hands full enough!

We are having our final yard sale this Saturday since moving in January. After that it all goes to Goodwill...
