Hi everyone,

I got some really bad news today. I found out the rash on my mastecomy side is skin mets. I was diagnosed with TN IBC last April. I went through ACT chemo mastecomy and radiation. I was considered NED. This past April my onco put me taxoter & avastin as a preventative measure. I'm just in shock that the cancer would come back during chemo.  I would really love some input from anyone else with skins mets and what the treatment is and how you are doing.  I do not yet know if the cancer had spread anywhere else as I still have to have scans.  I'm so devastated, my hair is just starting get long and I was so close to being done. I feel so broken.  Any input is greatly appreciated,

Thanks

Dorothy

Dorothy, I don't have IBC, I have IDC, so I am not too informed on your specific type of cancer, but cancer is cancer, and I just want you to know you have my prayers that it has not spread.  I am shocked that this has happened and can only imagine the dread you are feeling.  There but for the grace of God go any one of us.  I wish you strength and much good luck during this very trying time for you.  Please let us know what is happening from this point on.

    Hugs,

    Linda

Dorothy,  I am so sorry to hear that you developed skin mets while on treatment with Taxotere and Avastin.   Hoping that your scans are all clean, this is the only problem, and that it can be treated effectively with a change in chemos.  You are hardly recovering from your first treatments, this is so terribly unfair.  Others will be along, too, to give you more specifics.  I wish I could help more.  Hugs. G.

    Dorothy,

Check with the Update on Florida Lady thread on the Alternative forum.  We have been talking about skin mets and the Clinical Trial Cam is on and the one Flalady is starting. Flalady and Cam have been dealing with TN skin mets so info on different Chemos is available from either of us.

Please read about FloridaLady.  She is dealing with this.  Also, please read about evidence based supplements that are proven to be supportive in this fight.  There are about 10 or so really good supplements to look into like citrus pectin, coriolus, green tea, curcumin, vitamin D, melatonin, coq10, and avemar.  Edge at No Surrender has a really good paper on his concepts and you can always call the Life Extension Foundation and they can give you a basic protocol to start.  Remember, only consider the supplements that have proven to help and keep it simple.

    Dear Dorothy,

It is a little late to reply to you...but I can SO relate to your post.

I was dxed with skin mets five months after adjuvant treatment stopped.  I had a rash on my chest.  Three doctors told me it was nothing but "post radiation dermititis".  However, once my onc saw it, she knew immediately what is was.

The good news for me, was that it had not spread to any organs.  I have been on oral Xeloda for the past nine months and the skin rash has completely gone away and the cancer is back in remission.  I am triple negative with IBC too.  Had 21/24 positive nodes.

Please let me know what has happed with you.  I hope all your scans were negative.   Good luck.
