Has anyone ever taken Relizen for hot flashes?

I am in the process of getting off of Effexor for hot flashes because it does not seem to work anymore. Getting off of Effexor is another discussion all together - lets just say I feel like I am high or wasted most of the day!

Anyhoo, my oncologist is going to have me to try a non hormonal supplement called Relizen for the hot flashes. He said he would give me a 10 day supply with a code so I can order from the Relizen website and the code will allow me to buy it cheaper than normal. Just wondering if anyone has ever heard of Relizen or tried it.

Yes, I have tried this on the recommendation of my gyno. She told me that you must take it for (I think) a couple of months before it kicks in. Hard to remember, since it was a couple of years ago. Bottom line was that it did nothing for me except for making me very constipated! Still, everyone is different, so you may as well give it a shot

Crap (pardon the pun) I already have a bad problem with being constipated. This is what I was wanting to know, what the effects are for people who have actually tried it, not what the dr says.

I've been on Relizen for 5 months. It completely stopped my horribly frequent hot flashes after about 1 month on the supplement. Helped insomnia a little, but not as effectively as it did the hot flashes. I do notice GI side effects like lazy bowel issues, but not full blown constipation I will try taking pre & probiotics to see if they help also need to drink more water.

I'm back with a second response after taking Relizen for nearly 1 year. Strangely, it did not control my hot flashes during the heat of summer. I was about to go off the medicine since I thought it was no longer affective but the hot flashes discontinued when the weather cooled off. i do continue to be troubled by the lazy bowel side effects but I put up with them bc I haven't found another non-estrogen treatment for hot flashes which were happpening day & night for me. I am looking forward to getting off Relizen once the hot flashes subside though.

I've been on Relizen for six months. Formerly I had about 12 hot flashes a day, about half of them so severe I considered them to be "estrogen seizures." Now I get approximately six a day. Four of them are mild enough to be considered "subclinical." While the other two are severe, the severity of even the worst ones has been reduced considerably. The bottom line is the Relizen has transformed this issue into one that had significant negative impact on my quality of life to one that has minimal impact.

I am concerned however about the business model (subscription) and the quality of customer service (sloppy and inaccurate fulfillment of the "subscription") and have already been poking around for competitor products. I tried straight bee pollen from a beekeeper, which was very cheap. I found that while that worked even better than Relizen, it gave me a crippling sore throat, a side effect I was familiar with from HRT. I might try that again with a much lower dose, just a quarter teaspoon.

Note a friend of ours, a retired science teacher, observed that pollen contains male plant sex hormones, so the idea that "no one knows why this works" is disingenous, and the secrecy with which the manufacturer has surrounded the product suggests someone should chemically unpack it and let everyone know exactly what they are taking.

Hi all. Iv'e been taking Rezilen for about a year now. I'm not sure if it helps or my body is just getting used to less estrogen, but I'm afraid to stop! Good luck to all

My hot flashes had subsided when i was on Tamoxafin but came back in full force (kinda worse) when my Oncologist switched me to Anastozole. My cancer was estrogen driven so i have to be caustious with what I take. I have 2 more years on the Anastozole and I'm praying I can find something to get some relief. Very fsleepless nights.

How about Amberen? Has anyone ever tried it for hot flashes? i found it on Amazon and the reviews seemed very positive.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions /information.

I have been on Relizen for almost a year, as soon as I got diagnosed with cancer. I had been on low dose estrogen before that (I'm suspicious that's where my BC came from) and was only off it for a few weeks and experienced hot flashes for a short time. The Relizen has controlled them very well- I have none- and I think I have no side effects from it at all. Of course, it's hard to tell what's a side effect from when you're also on Anastrozole and other things!
