I know TWO ladies named Cornelia here in Ireland, one called after her grandfather Cornelius, the other Cornelia is from Alaska. No idea if she was called after someone.
The dymaics do change in a multi cat household after the loss of a cat. Sorry no solution though. (Hmmm, get a bigger bully??? Joke!!!)

My great-grandmother was Delia (my mother always pronounces it with the accent on the first syllable: Deal-ee-yah). Apparently Delia hated that name and called her only child Doris. That would have been about 100 years ago, as my mother recently turned 80.
My great-aunt, Doris' sister-in-law, was Gladys. I recently met another Gladys at our ENT's office. She goes by Gladdy.
On the other side, my grandmother was named Vera, and she loved pansies and geraniums.

Had a great-great grandmother named Cordelia and also a Great Aunt Cordelia

Dearest Rose, Good to hear that the yogurt is staying down, but sorry about the salmon "swimming away!"
Here is a festival of lights to brighten your day!

You know for all my Buddhist leanings and love.... I always enjoy and love Christmas lights! They make me smile and bring back childhood memories of awe and wonder. Thank you Bestbird. We received a lovely dusting of snow this afternoon! Like maybe 3 inches of white splendor. I just have enjoyed it so much. Our bird feeder broke and we put out an old frying pan full of bird and squirrel food on the brick wall. It was comical seeing the birds and squirrels sitting in the frying pan eating away... the snow falling. Funny images.
Off to chemoland tomorrow. Just finished making vegan carrot/sweet potato/ zucchini muffins. I will give them to my DD2 up at college. I get to see her on chemo days. It always makes me happy to see her. I like to make her something to eat since she works part time and goes to school full time. It's a Mom thing.. can't help myself. Breakfast muffins full of vegetables and an orange makes a great breakfast.
I love all the old fashioned names!! Wish us luck driving an hour to Portland tomorrow morning. I am confident about our skills it's the others. We learned to drive in the East Coast winter wonderland.

Well my DH deserves a metal for the drive yesterday! They had chain restrictions on the major freeways and were handing out tickets to truckers without chains and drivers too. You could have studded snow tires and 4wheel drive and not get a ticket I guess. We had chains on the van but you can't drive faster then 35mph with chains on. Slow going to Portland 2.5 hrs! Oy. We were only 20 min late. All the driving made me nauseous and I got sick when we got there and later that afternoon. The chemo wears off and I can always tell.
My oncologist kept up with the carboplatin, nausea meds and fluids. My labs were very good and stable. Even though the tumor markers went up 97 points the carboplatin appears to work for the first 4 days then slows down. Once it kicks in it seems to help me eat and function. So we will continue. I will see Christmas with my family. All the girls will be together. Yay!
Well I will say the white winter wonderland is a joy to behold and the skies are sunny. The birds are flying around eating seed we left out. Kitty TV I call them. Our cats love watching them and fight for the arm seat on near the big livingroom window... too funny.
Thank you for all the well wishes. I am humbled and thankful for the support.

So happy for you Rose! I hope the Carbo lasts a LONG time! Do you have one more session b4 Christmas? We don't want you to have any N/V the end of next week!

Yaaay!

Hi Rosie - I am back from my Danube cruise to Germany/Austria. So glad you are here for the holidays. Here is a tiny Xmas store in Durnstein selling bird cages (on the far right). Came back to chilly rain in Socal, but we need the water. Cheers to you and all our bc ladies!

Foxgloves still blooming in December...
-
FF Foxglove- Now you are too lucky!! They are a gorgeous color too! Laalady- such a lovely alley way and shops, bet it was hard to come home.
Our low last night was 17 degrees and the high 32! We have 4 inches of snow on the ground and the streets are icy. Too hard to walk on the sidewalk. I need to make some broccoli, potatoe and cheddar soup for dinner. With hot bread. That should fill up the troops.
Lovingkindness and peace to you all.
-
Rose...can I come over for soup? I love that kind of soup! That combo is also good in a baked potato, too.
It's been cold down here in California, too (well.....cold for us, relatively speaking). When I took our dog out to go potty for the last time last night, it was in the 30s. The weather forecasters told everyone to cover their non-cold tolerant plants because of the freeze. I went to bed w/a long-sleeve thermal shirt AND another long sleeve top over it. If it stays like this, I may have to invest in an electric blanket.
Californians are such weather weenies, tho. Most of us would DIE if we had to go thru what people in the Midwest and New England states have to deal with.

Today is the last day in my weekly cycle of chemo and it's worn off. I have tossed up breakfast and lunch.. no fun. My poor DD3 just looks at me like are you going to do anything besides... lay down(nauseated), puke, wrap packages, make her lunch, try to eat soup, puke the soup twice... lay back down. Take zofran and 1/2 ativan.. ugh.. Poor kid. Holiday with Mom is no holiday. I can't take her out anywhere cause I don't feel good and we can't eat together cause everything makes me sick. Can't bake.. ugh.. Tomorrow I get chemo and it should be better. carboplatin seems to bother my hands and feet. anyone else get that? I am happy to be here but it's a mixed blessing.
-
Thinking of you, Rose. Maybe you could watch some of the holiday movies with DD3. Make it a special time, with the bonus that you don't have to be actually doing or making or trying to eat anything.
-
Wishing you better days and a magical Christmas Rose.
Keeping you in my thoughts, as always.
-
No advice on the carbo. Haven't had that one. I'm so sorry you are back in this hell hole puke fest. I know you think you are no fun right now, but I assure you dd3 is just thankful to have you. I don't know how you keep on. Honestly. You amaze me with your ability to see the beauty in life still. Your momma drive is something to behold. I hate that you suffer so much. Really praying this chemo helps to get you through the holidays upright
much love to you
-
Does it help to take the anti-nausea medications more often or round the clock as the end of the chemo week approaches?
Hoping the carbo kicks in quickly so you can enjoy so many special moments with your family, especially DD3. Sending much love ❤️ your way.

Love the orchics. They are kind of like extra special fancy foxglove and I adore those. Well I went to the cancer center yesterday and got small amt of fluids, zofran and steroids and carboplatin. My tumor markers came back 144 points down from last week. I swear it works well right out of the week and then wears off. No puking yesterday 3 doses of zofran and ativan, but reflux and bloating is pretty bad. I am noticing peripheral neuropathy in my hands and feet, swallowing lots of mucous which makes me nauseous and hearing loss. I will try and get a hearing test and have them bump up my high end today. Wish me luck. I can hardly recognize some Christmas music because I am missing a range. So I am getting deafer but I am still here. Hope to enjoy small amounts of meals and my girls who will all be here for 4 days!! Wooohoo. Much to be thankful for.. blessings.
Lovingkindess and blessings to you all too. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you
