edited December 2016 in Waiting for Test Results

hi all,

I was wondering if anyone can help me out, I tried calling my breast clinic but can't get anyone on the phone ..left a message and no one is getting back to me.

I had a core needle biopsy on the 5 th of December, two weeks ago about.

It hurt from the beginning, started to get better after a few days, but now for about a week, I have a large hard painful lump around the biopsy area, it hurts like hell! Not just that but its so itchy!!! Its making me crazy, I can't sleep...if I graze it even lightly I could scream in pain. I read online it could be a hematoma, if it is, it is like the size of a apple..not perfectly round though. Is this normal?

Thankfully my results are in and I see my gp at noon tomorrow to get the news(I'm shaking just writing that, so nervous) anyway as a doctor she is pretty useless, I'm sorry but she is pretty bad so I would like to be ready to explain this to her and not have her brush it off like everything else. I can't keep on with this amount of pain( with a 19 month old who loves to hug and kick lol) so I need her to take the situation seriously. Any tips? Any advice?

Thanks!

Ciaramist: Is there an urgent care clinic that you can go to? They can at least look at it for you and then call your Dr. directly if they see an issue. Doctors tend to pick up the phone when other doctors call.

    CinSanFrancisco-

Unfortunately all clinics in my area are call only , no walk in's. And I won't even tempt to go to the hospital emergency room unless I'm severely ill, I have my daughter with me ,my husband is working, the wait times are no less then 5 hours.(not doable with the little one) Is it something you think needs a immediate looking at? I don't have chills or a fever, nothing wrong besides the breast itself and armpit pain, so I may just wait it out till tomorrow when I go for my results.

any tips to help me get through the day and night as the pain has reached a new peak. I normally have a large threshold for pain but this is surpassing that.

    Thanks!

Ciaramist: I just had my biopsy yesterday. I am a bit sore and as the day progresses and as I have began to move more, I am really really sore. I am using an icepack right now and a pain med. Have you tried icing it? Is it possible to just show up at your Dr.'s office or ask them to call in a pain med? They cannot ignore you when you are in their waiting room. In short, I am finding that ice does help, albeit temporarily.

    CinSanFrancisco-

I'm sorry to hear you are in pain too! These things are scary enough on their own...then have to endure the pain that comes with it. Hope you have a very speedy recovery!

I've been living with a ice pack on my Bossom for the last two weeks lol I tried the hot compress but it makes the itching so much worse I cannot tolerate it. The ice helps for a instant relief, but that's about as long as it does, as soon as I take it off I'm back to where I was before. No relief, Tylenol does bring the swelling down some so I am taking that.

I think I have it in me to hold off for one more day. It might be a glass or 5 of wine type a night lol!

Thanks and again sending healing and good vibes your way!

Ciaramist: Good luck and hope that when you see Dr. it is good news and if you are still having pain, that he/she prescribes at least a week's worth of pain medicine. Someone you know must have a prescription, have you asked? Remember that the Dr. works for you, so if you can get a real person today, I would do so. No need for you to suffer this way. Thanks for the kind words. The Dr. that did my biopsy yesterday thinks that it is just older breast tissue and said I did not have to get biopsy yesterday, but that we could monitor cyst every 3-6 months. I said no way did I want that hanging over me and we did the biopsy and am awaiting results. He agreed that that would be the best decision. I swear talking to these people is sometimes so confusing. Good luck and keep us posted on what happens tomorrow.

I had a stereotactic needle biopsy done yesterday and I am also very itchy today. I have welts where the surgical tape was. I think I might have had an allergic reaction. I've applied some cortisone cream and also an ice pack, but still very itchy. I may take a benadryl to see if that helps. I would say try any/all of the above and by all means, try to get into an urgent care/walk-in clinic if possible.
