Waiting for surgery

I was diagnosed 12/7/2016 with grade 1 ILC ER+, PR+ (awaiting HER2).  Had mammogram on 11/23, u/s on 11/29, MRI with contrast, 12/2 and Bx on 12/5.   Met with surgeon on 12/8 and have appointment with plastic surgeon on 12/19 and with oncologist on 12/20.  No imaging, path or clinical indications of lymph node involvement. I am nervous and concerned now about the amount of time between diagnosis and surgery; looks like the earliest will be 1/31/2017.  I have several appointments between now and end of January, but was curious if anyone else had this much time between diagnosis and surgery?

When will you find out grade and HER2 status? If it is grade 3 and/or HER2 positive, I would try and push for an earlier date, because those grow quickly. I had a tumour blow up between two breast MRIs that were six months apart: certain tumour types grow very quickly. (The medical establishment will often tell you that breast cancer takes years to grow. That is not always the case.) I was scheduled to have surgery one month after diagnosis with the best breast surgeon in my city. I told them that I don't care who performs the surgery, I want an earlier date because we know this is an extremely aggressive tumour. I ended up with a much younger surgeon who performed an amazing surgery: she got clear margins even though the tumour was a mere 1.6 mm from my chest wall. Good luck; I know waiting can be torture.
