I have not slept well in a month. I am very fortunate that things moved so quickly for me. I am so happy that my biopsy showed two benign conditions. I am now doing some research before I see my doctor on Tuesday to discuss. We talked on the phone and she is referring me to a breast surgeon.

I was diagnosed with "ductal hyperplasia" and "intraductal papilloma". When my doctor called me today I was so relieved that it wasn't cancer the rest of our conversation is a bit jumbled in my head. She said the ductal hyperplasia is NOT CANCER...today. She hesitated when she said today. All I heard was it's not cancer. Then she said we will watch you closely but you are all clear now. But, the intraductal papilloma should be removed and I am going to refer you to a surgeon.

Well that was my conversation. I said thank you over and over and then I got thinking..umm...maybe I should research these conditions.

Please give me your thoughts....and don't spare me with scary stuff if it's there. Nothing will ever be a bad as the last 4 weeks for me and my worries!

Intraductal papilloma's are "warty" type growths. They are removed because they can grow and be annoying. They are usually benign, but in a small percentage of cases they are found in conjunction with DCIS and/or IDC.

Was the hyperplasia usual ductal hyperplasia or atypical ductal hyperplasia? Atypical ductal hyperplasia can be a indicator of having a small to moderate increased risk of developing cancer. "Usual" type is not.

Thank You for responding Melissa. My doc just said Ductal hyperplasia but now I have another question for my list to her. I see her on Thursday and will see the surgeon soon I hope.
