20 years old and scared I have breast cancer

I am 20 years old, and found a lump back in April. With me being a hypochondriac, I went to the breast center immediately. The doctor ordered an ultrasound and the radiologist said I had 2 fibroadenomas in my left breast. For months I feared it was something else and whenever my 6th month check up came up 2 weeks ago, I was afraid again. The ultrasound showed that one of my lumps had grown a good amount and the radiologist decided to do a biopsy, to see if it is a fibroadenoma or a fibroadenosis. I just got mine today and I am freaking out. I have had 2 doctors tell me they are benign but I am still so scared of the what ifs and if I have breast cancer.

I am unclear. Have you gotten the biopsy results?

My bet is it's a fibroidadenoma. I had one removed when I was 22, so I know how you are feeling.

These days most young women are watched and not even biospsied.

If two docs are telling you it's benign, it probably is.

The chances of breast cancer at your age would be astronomically low. Fibroadenomas very often grow and if you've had two doctors tell you it's benign, you should trust them that it is--particularly if they've performed a biopsy
