Hi there! I'm 39 and had a prophylactic bilateral Masectomy with expanders placed July 11th of this year due to a genetic condition (NF1), positive gene RAD50(treated as BRCA1), family history and dense breast tissue. I have a lot of factors going against me. I was offered the genetic test while I had my children with a team of specialist where I take them to be seen once a year. Thank god for options! My ovaries and tubes were removed last year I will have the rest of hysterectomy done next year. I lost my mom to Ovarian Cancer in 2012, she was 62 when she passed away.

My exchange was on Wed. November 30th., a couple days ago. My expanders were switched out for extra high profile mentor silicone 480 cc's smooth (what a mouth full). I wasn't expecting this surgery to be so painful. Is it just me? I guess I was expecting it to be much easier, so in my mind, I was going to be able to do a little more. Today I get to shower and see My chest for the first time. Although I signed up for this site sometime ago I have not yet posted anything. I'm hoping to connect with others and share stories.     lady I had my exchange 10/26 to mentor memory shape 440's I did not experience pain like I did with my BMX in June. Just uncomfortableness everyone has a different experience and maybe your body needs more yime

    I just had exchange surgery last Thursday and am doing pretty good now. off the pain killers yesterday with just Tylenol this surgery was way easier than the initial double mastectomy I had to wait because of radiation and then a trial drug I was on. finally it was my turn

    Dear Ladies; I just had my final reconstruction this morning. I was at the hospital at 4:15 am. I just got out from the hospital at 3:00 pm. The doctor told me that the surgery would last 2 and half hours. I am having a lot of pain but not as much as the TE (that was totally painful. UMX was not painful at all, neither the biopsy.

    I am having trouble with recon. I came from hospital and slept until 9:00 pm. When I woke up I discovered that the bra and the bandages were stained in blood. The SP told me to go to his office on Monday but I can't stay so long with a soiled bra and bandages. My common sense tells me to change bandages but I want to obey the PS. The bleeding is on the left breast from where the PS extracted part of the nipple and the areola.

    Can anyone help me?

    I did what common sense told me. I called the PS's office today and told the nurse if I could change the bandages. There was no more bleeding. Last night I changed the bra and left it in water. Today I changed the bandages. They told me not to touch anything else so I didn't.

    The anesthesiologist doctor almost gave me a heart attack when he put all the syringes with the medications on my belly. I asked and the nurse told me he was putting directly into vein really quickly 2 of xylocaine and then 3 syringes with propofol. It hurt like hell and he sent me into oblivion. The girls were nice in the OR. The graduate nurse was in the TE surgery. She has just came back from maternity leave. The operating tech was also in the TE surgery. The anesthesist nurse was new but was nicer than the one on TE. She explained to me what the stupid anesthesiologist was doing.

    Anyway, the experience was quite good except for the anesthesiologist. He was in such a hurry. He entered the OR about five times and the nurses told him that he could not knock me out because the PS hasn't took the measures while standing.
