Taking complementary meds while on study trial?

Options

I'm wondering if I can use something (Cat's Claw or Cannabidiol) while I'm in a study trial. It doesn't say in the study papers I have here, except to tell the doctors what meds you are on. I'm not decided on taking these or not but wondering if I would be told I can't take them ...

First rule(s) of thumb when participating in a clinical trial - ALWAYS ask about taking new medications or supplements and ALWAYS keep the study team up to date. This includes informing them of any side effects, no matter how minor. If you're told not to take something, then don't. It's really not fair to future patients to risk messing up the trial data.

Totally agree. :) I was told I cannot take the Cat's Claw/Samento so I don't. I don't want to mess up the trial for anyone either--I would also be messing it up for me ---and they would kick me out. Informing them of side-effects -- hee hee-- I think I overdo it in that area. But they seem to appreciate it.

After learning more about the trial I am on, I think they just don't want you taking anything extra while on the study because some of the things they are measuring on the biopsies are so new, they are not even sure what they mean yet. So potentially
