Cough since September
I've had a cough since September. Some days I don't cough much but some days, like today, I cough until I gag. I don't cough anything up. Should I call my MO and advise him? I'm currently on Arimidex.

Patti, I just went through a scare, right around my one year anniversary. I started an intermittent cough about 6 weeks ago as well. It was nothing serious and, like you, some days it is better, some days worse. I never developed a sore throat or cold and I was already on claritin. No wheezing but seems like there is mucous at the back of my throat (not post nasal drip, as I am familiar with that), this seems to be coming from my throat/chest. This caused me to be hoarse on some days as well. I did not have LPR (silent GERD) as I just visited an ENT a few months back to confirm. Anyways, it started getting a little worse so I finally called my MO. For peace of mind, she ordered a CT of the chest. The night after my scan, I actually coughed so hard that I coughed up bright red blood twice. I was convinced at that point that I had lung mets. Cried my heart out till noon the next day when the doctor's office called. Said that the CT was clear as day. I promise I will celebrate this Christmas as I have never before ( I lost christmas to cancer dx last year ). So, you never know, as cancer patients our minds wonder to the darkest places. Please check with your MO if you are concern and don't waste another Christmas to this disease.

Patti - I would definitely recommend you follow this up. Not that it has to be something serious but for your peace of mind. It won't change what is happening and most likely will give you peace of mind.
I had a niggly cough for months back after my treatment had finished in Aug 2014. It was mainly in the mornings. I finally told my BS when I was just about to have my second m/reconstruction. After an X-ray and a CT scan it was DX as radiation damage. I was so releived it wasn't mets. I went ahead with my reconstruction and I felt the anti-biotics after my op got rid of the cough. I still think I have a weakness there and sometimes get a bit of an irritating cough. The best thing for me is that I found out the reason for it and and didn't have to fear the unknown. I wish you similar results.

Looks like you've also recently had surgery. That can cause fluid build up as well. Allergies can give you post nasal drip that can cause a cough. Some people, as they age, also develop rhinitis (non-specific) and arimidex has a symptom list that nasal congestion/issues can develop.
I would certainly mention it. Why spend the time worrying, right? Best to you!

Call and get it checked. I have been coughing for 9 months which they think is from radiation and GERD. It is frustrating, but they can hopefully get to the bottom of it for you
