I received my last chemotherapy treatment on July 13 2006 and it has only grown back about an inch or slightly less as of November 17. Before receiving chemotherapy my hair grew about 1/2 inch a month. Is this unusual to be so slow in growing back??

My mom finished chemo late June (don't exactly remember when as I am in another state). She has come for a visit and her hair has only grown about 1.5 inches without any haircuts. I think everyone is different, but slow regrowth doesn't seem unusual.

YOUD BE SUPRISED AT HOW SLOW REGROWTH IS. MY SISTERS HAIR SEEMED TO GROW VERY SLOW. BUT NORMALY HAIR DOSEN'T GROW THAT FAST ANYWAY. YOU ARE JUST MORE AWARE OF IT NOW BECAUSE YOUR HAIR IS SO SHORT. ALSO DON'T BE SURPRISED IF ITS NOT THE SAME COLOR AND TEXTURE AS YOUR OTHER HAIR WAS. MY SISTER ALWAYS HAD STRAIGHT BLOND HAIR AND IT GREW BACK CURLY AND BLACK. NO BODY TOLD HER THAT COULD HAPPEN SO IT WAS KIND OF A SHOCK.

Considering your last chemo was still killing hair growth for a few weeks past July 13th, I don't think you're much, if at all, behind.

Yes, hair takes a while to grow back out. I finished chemo in March. My hair started to grow back out on the back and sides first and I had what looked like a male balding pattern for a while. My hair dresser keeps trimming it once a month. Now, 9 months later, I'm finally growing bangs. Yeah!!! The good news is that overall is much fuller than before bc.

I had my last chemo Dec 8th of last year. Now, a little over one year later, it is about 4 inches long. About 3 inches of that has grown since July. I think it takes a while to fill and before it starts growing at a normal rate. That's how it was for me anyway.
