Ladies, I would love to have your insight regarding scheduling my 2nd Taxol treatment. I have my first treatment in two weeks and I know I'll know much more then, but the cancer center wants the second treatment scheduled now. So, for those of you who have gone thru Taxol, would you have been ready to participate in Christmas festivities 3 or 4 days after treatment? I know we all react differently to treatments, but any guidance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Assuming that yo mean starting on Dec 7 on 2 week intervals - have you thought about putting the first infusion off a week (start on the 14th instead of the 7th) - that way the 2nd would be on the 28th. Yes, that would be a week delay in starting but would keep the time frame between infusions the same so that 'it' can work as intended.

Is Taxol going to be neoadjuvant or adjuvant? Your type, Stage, etc.? This could come into play as to rather or not it might be advisable to postpone starting or to skip/put off a TX - talk to your Dr.

I did 12 weekly Taxol. I was completely and utterly exhausted the entire time (yes, it was over the Thanksgiving - Christmas Season) but I managed to do everything I wanted to do. I would not have postponed a single infusion as it was more important to me to be 'around' for a lot more yrs - that was 7 yrs ago and still here and NED.

(If you fill out your Profile, it would make it easier for someone to know what you are dealing with/facing.)

I did Taxol and was very exhausted with it but it was manageable. I had an A/C treatment 4 days before Christmas and it worked out OK. I didn't cook or do anything much, but my family chipped in and it still was a good holiday--just lots of sleeping/haziness for me. I agree with Kicks, I didn't want to purposely postpone any treatments, even if it meant feeling crumby for holidays. Plus, you never know when you might be forced to postpone a treatment for a medical reason(this happened to me twice--once for my heart and once for serious neuropathy). So I was "behind" in my treatment schedule for unavoidable reasons, and am thankful I didn't choose a postponement for something that wasn't absolutely necessary.

Seems everyone is different. I did the 12 weekly taxol treatments and basically felt OK the first first few weeks. Hair loss started about week 3 or 4 and the more severe fatigue was towards the end, weeks 9+. I finished about a week ago and have pretty severe fatigue.

    good luck
