Waiting for Biopsy

I had an irregular mammogram yesterday. My OBGYN feels that it might be inflammatory breast cancer, which appears to be very serious. He called a surgeon this morning to try and get me in for a biopsy ASAP and they won't even schedule an appointment without having my scans in their office. Then offered me an appointment for an EXAM with a nurse practitioner in two weeks. Almost like they have no sense of urgency whatsoever. Anyone else have this experience? Am I completely nuts for thinking this is unacceptable?

Do you have any other doctors your OBGYN could call to arrange a biopsy? It's got to be horrible having to wait. Can you get copies of the scans to the doc office? My hospital, with Kaiser Permanente, can give me a copy of scans on a disc, not sure about mammograms but asume these too.

An extra week or two may not be a massive issue for your DX but it is a really long time for you to wait without knowing what's going on. Also - keep an eye on your symptoms, if things get worse go back to your obgyn.

I will be thinking of you. I truely hope your results will be benign.

My initial mammogram was 6 weeks ago and I'm still in the testing phase. I had a neddle biopsy that showed ALH and don't go in for the surgical biopsy for another 3 weeks. The waiting is by far the worst part so far. And, while it seems an eternity, remember they want you off any blood thinning meds, which can include ibuprofen, for 7-10 days, so typically it's at least a week out. I tried to move things up for my needle biopsy and though I wasn't successful it did help my anxieties to try at least.

    Rayven-

Thank you for chiming in with your experiences so far. The waiting can be so, so hard. We're thinking of you!
