Been reading posts on here for a while, joined this journey in Sept after annual mammogram found tumor in left breast, what a whirlwind of things coming at you at once! Tests, biopsy, scans, lymph nodes biopsy, port put in, there was no spread of cancer anywhere else, thank goodness.

After reading posts on here seems like I've had a lot of the common SE' s, have treatments once every 3 weeks, hasn't been that bad, usually by the middle of 2nd week SE' s have settled down just in time to start over again.

This time I'm having some issues with severe congestion, lots of dark mucus, feels like a extreme sinus infection, causing throwing up, coughing, feels like body is full of it, no fever,Dr said all blood test showed good, thought it might be a viral thing, go back to see him on Monday, but still no better, and losing voice off and on!

And also very red, irritated skin in the whole bottom area, almost burned look to it, Dr ordered pill for yeast infection, has any one else ever had these symptoms?

Hi 4nell. I am on the same chemo as you except herceptan instead of perjeta. I have pretty much have congestion, blood in my sinuses, (no vomiting) lost my voice alittle, but symptoms seem milder than yours except for a bad yeast infection last 3 chemos. Im going for #6 and final chemo after thanksgiving. Thank the Lord. Maybe these are just side effects and your having them more extreme. Ihad 4 days of bad diarrhea then the yeast infection seemed to set in. I see MO on tuesday iknow they did a culture of my urine so maybe find out something them.

4nell, I didn't have the same chemo as you, but did have Taxotere. I did get yeast infections, as well as thrush. Try eating yogurt and if that doesn't work, ask for a RX. I had to take a RX the second time around...something throws your ph off of balance, I think. I had nose bleeds and some congestion (was winter time and allergies making it worse, I think). I used a saline solution twice a day and Dr also RX'd Nasonex. A hot shower helped break it up also. I remember also getting a chest x-ray, bc I was freaking out!:) Since your immune system is suppressed, you are right to be on the safe side!:) I hope they can come up with a solution for you.

    Happy Turkey Day!

I had SEVERE sinus, mucous problems all the way through AC and Taxol.  It was the worst.  MO could not figure it out.

FINALLY, I realized I had developed SEVERE food allergies after a horrible respiratory reaction after eating pizza crust.  Gluten/Wheat and Dairy were my triggers.  When I got off of those things, reactions stopped.

I am now 4 years out from chemo - still have gluten/wheat allergy.  Dairy has gotten better.  I write a BC blog and hear from many women who developed food allergies during/after chemo.   Certainly, I am not saying that is what you have, but keep an eye on it if food triggers it.

That was by far my worst SE.  It was like a severe cold the whole way through.  Sending sympathy!!!

4nell- I just had #5 of 6 last week of carbo/taxotere- hitting even harder for me than the 4th. I've been able to stay away from vomiting, but yesterday in bed not moving much. All flu like symptoms it feels like.. I get the thrush too. Glad you're in touch with your Dr.- hope you feel better soon.

thanks for replying Keepthefaith, Ajbclan ,Denise-G, it really helps to know others have had some of these same issues. The 1st 2 chemos wasn't as bad for SE, things were getting better by the latter part of first week each time like the nausea, diarrhea, acid, runny bloody nose, mouth sores with the 1st one, then this 3rd one was like wow, here you go! I see the Dr again tomorrow and he is doing ultrasound to see if the tumor has shrunk any, then more lab work then talk to him . He did prescribe a pill for the yeast infection, I eat yogurts everyday plus try to eat balanced meals, drink lots of water! I am wondering if this just gets worse with each treatment, have 3 more to go then they are talking surgery to remove the tissue of the tumor, After 1st chemo he added the nuelasta pod as the wbc had dropped but so far they have been good, taking clairtin for the bone pain,.

Definitely a journey of ups and down, so thankful for this board with so much information as we all travel this road, Hope everyone does have a great Thanksgiving !
