    hello ladies! I survived my second round with AC. Yesterday was interesting. I was pretty much fine after I left the hospital. I wento to get some prescriptions and did a little grocery shopping. When I got home, i got the worse feeling so far. Super tired, body ache and a little nausea coupled with stomach cramps. I ate a little, since it would be worse if I did not. I then went to sleepmy stomach upset. For me is a side effect from The steroid, I I'll manage this with other meds. I have full hair. However in other areas in my body are hair is thinning. I hair pior to surgery, then twice after surgery. Don't know if that helped

    Glad you got through your days amw and LatinMixy. You've got it right...just take it easy today and listen to your bodies. Be proactive, not reactive. Today is about slow and steady.

    Pink when I went to my nurse chemo education appt on Monday she told me you can't get a flu shot once you start chemo, they gave it to me on Monday.

    So I finally have an appointment to start chemo, Friday at 10:15...ack! it's getting real here...I am really hoping that I feel ok for a few days at least, I am going to a fundraiser event (ironically for my local breast cancer center) Friday night...so I hope I am up to going....

    I'm hoping to do some wig shopping either this weekend or over the Thanksgiving break (I'm a teacher)

    pamela23, I wish I had asked about the Xanax. I was almost hyperventilating on the way there, but I didn't know if I could take one. Once I was there, though, I was fine. Good luck today

    Hi Ladies-

    I hope the round 1 ladies made out OK and best of luck to the round 2 ladies this week! I went and got my head shaved last night. I have my wig on today- not sure how much I will wear it. It's very tight and I feel kind of silly wearing it. I may end up doing the scarves.

    Last night before I went to get my hair shaved, my daughter looked at me and said, "Be brave, Mommy. You are stronger than you know" I wanted to pass that on you ladies because you are all stronger than you know and we can do this!!

    BG46TN- I noticed that as well! How is your Sophia handling it? Mine is having a hard time with the hair. She has never been one to take well to change so to help ease her into it I cut my hair very short and let her pick the colors to dye it. She choose pink and purple which I LOVED. It was so out of my character to get something so bold but she had so much fun with it! Now she cries that it's alzl going to fall out. Last night when we prayed before she went to bed she prayed that mommy would still be the same mommy even without hair 😢. It broke my heart. So now that I'm ready to shave it I just don't know what to do. My head is so tender and I have sores all over my scalp and have read shaving it helps to get some relief. I know it's going to fall out eventually I just don't want her to be scared of me .

    2 days post treatment: My husband just clipped my hair. It was really coming out, so we did it. Now if more falls out at least it won't be clumps.

    Two days out of treatment and I'm NOT constipated this time!! My MO said to take Miralax 2-3 times a day and double up on the senicot. It worked!

    awwwwww Frodriguez!! She is being ok with it for now, My mom wears a wig (has for years) so she doesn't seem to be too concerned out it right now. I have my first treatment on Friday so as of now I'm still "the same old mommy" I think I am more worried about my 11 year old son...he is more emotional about things, but hasn't really expressed any concern yet.

    I'm sitting at my center getting chemo #2 as I type. Numbers looked great on my labs. This body is some kind of a machine!! Platelets, RBC, and WBC all looking great. Wahoo!

    Anything else: Fibrocystic breast disease for 10+ years. Found a new lump in February. I thought it was a fibroadenoma. Switched doctors and pushed like heck to see a doctor so I could get a mammogram to check. Mammogram done in August. What I found was a fibroadenoma, but cancer was hiding behind it. Had I not pushed, I would have been 40 before they even checked. Potentally a stage 3/4 situation. You are you own best health care advocate!

    Having little kids must be difficult explaining all this to them. My two are 17 and 20. Even at that age there are parts they are having trouble understanding, or coming back with more questions. The plus side is, sometimes it's something I hadn't thought of, so I find out the answer for them...and me!

    So, I got a call this morning....my port placement is now tomorrow not Monday! A gent called from the hospital and asked if it would be possible, I said sure. He was thrilled! He of course didn't tell me what the situation was, but said I was doing a huge favour for another patient...I said, no skin off my nose. I was a little worried about getting the port on Monday then them plugging into it Tues for blood and Wed for Chemo...so at least this way it will have a few more days to heal. I'm good with tomorrow! I thought the guy was going to come through the phone line and hug me he was so excited. lol

    Off to the hospital soon for my before port bloodwork! :)

    Hello fabulous ladies,

    I am also from Long Island. My name is Nancy. I am 49. There is a large amount of women here who have had breast cancer.

    I am very thankful for all the great information. I start my treatment tomorrow. I can't believe I will be starting. For first day jitters any special comfort foods I should eat? How are the steroids? Did they help with the SEs?

    I am thinking I should stay on Ativan or xanax. I am so nervous. Is it the anticipation of the process that makes it so scary

    today is my first day of treatment. I'm waiting for a room, was supposed to be in treatment at 3:30, but still waiting. Getting more anxious by the minute....

    anything else you want to share: I was diagnosed in September, underwent surgery later that month. I had my second round of chemo yesterday, the day of my one year anniversary. My husband is a saint. He quit his job to be my primary caregiver. I lost my father to cancer on April last year. So yes, its been a rollercoaster.

    nanpop, I only get steroids in my injection. I don't take them once I'm home. Did you get an Emend prescription? As far as eating, eat a little protein, a smaller meal before you go. I had scrambled eggs and a piece of sourdough toast. If you took xanax or Ativan before, I'd stick with them. I took ambien before and continue it now.

    After we are all through this, we should each other some good sushi pics!!

    Marie, how are you feeling today?

    Shadowcat, they were 90 min behind taking me today. Sorry for the extra stress. Download a coloring book app on your phone, that really helps to zone you out.

    Good luck tomorrow, Leslie! I'm glad you're getting some healing time.

    Frances, I think it becomes the kids new normal. Sadly, this won't be their last experience with cancer. They'll have friends or relatives that will need support. Kids are crazy resilient.

    Natalie, yay for normalcy. I'm being proactive with the miralax and hoping for the same!!

    Nfullblume - thanks for sharing that story. Laughter is the best medicine. I've been wondering about hair coming out. I still have all of it and my second treatment is tomorrow, so should be any day now. I'm getting my hair cut/head shaved on Saturday. Should be interesting since it's down to the middle of my back. Yikes!!

    P.S. the wig looks great!

    Javamama - you vent all you like. This is the place to do it. We're all going through the same thing and it seems a lot of us feel the same way possibly; that we don't want to whine to family and stress them out more? So let us have it!! :-)

    Pink91316 - I recommend asking your MO about the flu shot. I know it's recommend before chemo starts but am not sure about during chemo. Anyone??
