How urgent is this?

I noticed small blood spots in my left bra cup on Nov. 7, so I did a self-check. When I squeezed my left nipple, about a half teaspoon of rust-colored, sticky fluid came from what appeared to be one duct. My right breast appeared normal. I called my general practitioner the next day and had a mammogram (my first) on Friday. On Monday, I saw a specialist who said the mammogram was inconclusive. She found two lumps in my left breast, one near the affected duct, and said her office would schedule an ultrasound. The office called today and said they set the ultrasound for Nov. 28. I know there is probably a benign cause behind the issue, but I'm extremely concerned that waiting two weeks before taking the next step could have a huge impact on my health if it's malignant. Am I overreacting, or do I have a reason to be concerned? I live in a rural area, so there aren't many options. Should I try to get an appointment sooner at another hospital?

    Unfortunately things move very slowly in the beginning. It was 3 weeks after my first mammogram till I got my diagnosis and then another 5 weeks until I started any treatment. try to take a deep breath and be as patient as possible

    Women who have already been diagnosed routinely wait weeks while going through additional testing. Two weeks would be a short wait time where I go. Also, if the specialist saw anything urgent they would have fast-tracked you

    as said above, a couple of weeks won't matter. It is hopefully just a papilloma, kind of a wart-like growth in the ducts. My mom had this years ago; they frequently cause bleeding from the nipple. The biopsy will let you know for sure and you can go from there. Best of luck to you!

    Thank you. I wasn't worried until a friend insisted the wait could kill me. I'll just have to tell her to relax

    I suggest that your friend doesn't know much about breast cancer. And I didn't either until I was diagnosed.  Please try not to worry about waiting 12 more days, and DON'T listen to your friend!  The wait isn't going to make one whit of difference, even if you do have cancer.  I promise you.

    Tzigon I cant give you any clinical reasons why that would be happening I dont know much about it other than reading information on the web. But I will share my cousin in laws story. she also woke up one morning and had blood stains on her night gown of course right away she broke down in tears. She had an mri and it turned out to be a papiloma in her ducts by her nipple causing the bleeding. It was all benign and she had it removed. The fact that your fluid was sticky could be puss due to an infection. As far as waiting 12 more days will not make a difference if not they would have rushed your appt. Maybe you can explain your anxiety and they might move your appt to a sooner date. My drs already know me and they try to work everything in one day if possible or asap. Hang in there sending you positive vibes and prayers.

    I bled on the mammogram plate during testing. It actually ran off the plate and dripped on the floor. That was Oct 1st. How ironic it was breast cancer month. I wasn't diagnosed until Dec 8th. That's how much testing is done. My bleeding had absolutely NO connection to my cancer.
