After 3 mammograms, 2 ultrasounds, an FNA, core biopsy, and open biopsy within the last 3 months, I am at wits end! Radiologist says Birads 5, surgeon says ALH with no evidence of malignancy. When do I give up and say, "I am done, just do a mastectomy before you drive me crazy with the tests and biopsies? Thanks for letting me vent

What did the path reports from biopsies say/show?

Birads 5 means highly suspicious. Your RADS guy may be covering his ass just in case. Your BS is the one who actually removed the area, but if it's still bothering you, you can always send your slides to Johns Hopkins for a 2nd opinion or go to another BS for a 2nd. No evidence of malignancy means just that. BTW, your profile is basically stating that you have already had radiation and A/C chemo. Not sure if that is the case. Good luck.

Core biopsy showed atypical lobular proliferation

Open biopsy: Fibrocystic chnages. Presence of ducts with altered architecture noted. Actin and p63 immunostains failed to revel the prescence of abnormal pattern. These changes are probably related to therapy artifact if clinically correlates.

Surgeon says "Lets wait 6 weeks and do a PET or MRI and go from there.

    Rockym,

You may be right. They totally missed the first tumor in 2005
