Teka- beautiful photo of leaves! Hope to see a little color in the city this coming week.

Lily- I think there is a lot of pressure on women after breast cancer treatment to "just get on with things." Our worlds are significantly changed after treatment, and for some women, the side effects and after effects can be huge. Be kind to yourself and best to take things one day at a time when feeling overwhelmed. I tell myself I am doing the best I can each day, knowing not all days will be equal. Hugs sister.

    Jazzy,

Maples, oaks and elms are just a few of the trees in Central Park that create the beautiful autumn colors throughout the park.

Lookforward, a food forest city park is an excellent idea. Hopefully, good location and interested gardeners.

Lookingforward: I had not heard of this term - food forest - but now that I Googled it I find that there are many of them around the US and other countries with considerable variation suited to the region. Most of the ones I found are more like community gardens supplying food to contributors (gardeners) and or to food bank, but are not free for the 'picking' to anyone. The Seattle idea, if truly free, would be great.

    MO,

I always found it hard at the start when writing a paper.

    *Good Morning Hermits*

We're having a rainy weekend and maybe going to have a dusting of snow in the North Country.

I'm only roasting pumpkin seeds for Son and Daughter next week for Halloween.

The trick-or-treaters don't come up our long steep dark driveway. So we get a bag of mini candy bars that we end up eating. ;o))

Hi friends- I like Halloween but usually don't do the candy thing anymore. I live in a community where there are kids or they drop them off here and it gets crazy. Given it's a Monday night, rethinking it this year and may do it for a few early hours and then shut off the light. Sometimes the little devils bang on the door long after the light goes off!

My client site does a costume party for Hallloween, and usually I don't do it, but going to stop by with a fun "madhatter" hat I found in Sept for $10. I can go in with it for an hour to the room and then take it off the hat and leave. Might be the only fun I have in that place this month?

Teka- my mother used to buy big bags of candy a month before Halloween and eat them up before mid month. There was always chocolate in our house growing up the whole month of October.

I love roasted pumpkin seeds. I need to get a pumpkin this weekend!

    Holy Cow!

Probably won't do candy on Halloween. We don't have a lot of kids in our neighborhood and we are usually the only ones on our street that give out candy. When we first moved here the kids came in droves and we would run out fairly early. Last year we were lucky if we got a dozen kids. Had two full bags of candy left that night!

Bagging leaves is so getting ready for winter, short days, and hibernation unless one gets overstretched and overstressed for the holidays. Fortunately, I only celebrate New Years.

Magiclight- end of the year holidays not my favorite either. I love Winter Solstice and go to a yoga practice to celebrate change of seasons. I hope to be soaking in the hot springs over Xmas weekend.....

We had to do them as it was supposed to get windy here today. No sense raking all those leaves just to let them blow around again

Ilovejazz...Hottub Xmas weekend sounds wonderful. I have a couple of getaways in mind, but they depend on the weather as they require going up the mountain where it snows and I do not like driving in the snow. I like being someplace when it snows so I can hibernate, but not getting there.
