    Hey lovely ladies! We spoke about doing something somewhat epic and doing it together. One of those things was the 21 mile walk of the Big Sur Marathon. Registration is open. It's $140.00. I'm willing to put down the money and train if anyone wants to join me!

    21 miles is a lot for me to walk in 6.5h. I do not at all like having the course rolled up right behind me. If you can do it, more power to you!

    Ksusan - yeah, it'll be a challenge for me as well. But I really looking forward to having something to train for. It's been a while.

    CJ, I need to check my husband's golf schedule and if that weekend is unscheduled I'll sign up for the 21 miler. One question, though. It says on the website that you have to reach marathon mile 21.2 by 11:50. Do they start you at mile 5 of the marathon course? I'm not sure if I can maintain the pace, mostly because my knee might get very sore without a couple of rest stops, and I can't jog at all, but I'll give it a go!!

    I just got back from hiking part of the Arizona National Scenic Trail. Two friends and I completed Passages 1, 2, 3, and part of 4. We shuttle-hiked by putting a vehicle at each end of the day's route so we could carry day packs and car camp at night. It worked out great! The weather was good, too. Except for a flat tire and leaving all my cash at McDonald's in Quartzite, the trip couldn't have been better. And I was able to retrieve my cash on the return trip! There are still honest people in the world!

    The do start us at Mile 5 of the Marathon. It's pretty much the same course, except the first 5 miles. It's an early start - if we stay in Carmel or Monterey we'll get up at o'dark thirty to get to the start at an amazingly ungodly hour. We have 6.5 hours to complete - so basically an average of 3.2 mile an hour if we walk straight through, but of course we'll want breaks. I don't plan to job either.

    CJ and I will be doing the 21 mile Walk in the Big Sur Marathon on Sunday. We'll let you know how it goes! Our goal is to finish the course within the time limit of 6 hours 30 minutes.

    Wow, good luck! Keep us posted! Hope it isn't too much of a hassle getting there: will they do it north of the downed bridge?

    Thank you! I'm running around like a fool packing and trying to clean up the house. I'm in the mdist of moving cross country, and my company was just acquired so life has been interesting! I'm not as well trained as I'd like to be, but if I don't finish, at least I tried! :)
