My mother is having grade 2 invasive ductal Carcinoma which spread to 2 lymph nodes.Doctor suggest us 8 chemotherapies after every 3 weeks.Carcinoma is just confined to breast and not metastate to any bone or other organ except 2 lymph nodes and lab reports told its estrogen positive. So should we opt for Chemotherapy or not?? We are so confused about that. Can only anti estrogen control this r shrink it so that we can remove it through surgery or Chemo is compulsory?? Help plz

Hi Dr_AS, I am very sorry to hear about your mother's diagnosis. You didn't provide any details about your mother's age, other health conditions, tumor pathology, diagnostic testing, staging, what kind of surgery your mother plans to have, etc. These are all very important factors in making the chemo/no chemo decision.

I am sure your Mom's medical oncologist has evaluated her case and made the recommendation accordingly. That being said if you have any doubts you should get a second opinion, preferably from a reputable breast cancer center.

    Best.
