Should I opt for Chemo?

Hello,

I got my OncoType DX results today. They ran the tests on two of the three tumors from my right breast. The scores are 18 and 23.
The 5 year risk of recurrence or mortality is... 14% with Tam alone; 13% with Tam + Chemo on one. And 12% with Tam alone; 12% with Tam+Chemo on the other.
I would have gone ahead with chemo without hesitation except for the 5 year risk percentages.

Isn't it a no brainer that chemo makes little or no difference in my case? Or am I missing something?

thanks

Did your MO recommend chemo? If so, ask why. If you aren't getting the answers you need, you may want to seek another opinion. You can also ask for a Mammaprint test...Similar to the onco-test, but it tests more genes and gives you a high or low category. ...No intermediary. I was a 21 onco-score, and as you can see on my profile, I chose chemo. Have you had the BRCA test done? Any family history? There are several factors to consider. Best wishes with your decision.

    It's a hard one.

Thanks for your reply Keepthefaith. I did get my genetic test results few weeks ago. Both BRCA 1 and 2 came back negative.

I don't have any family history on either side of the family.

I'll ask for mammaPrint tests. Hopefully that'll help me decide.
