Upper leg pain

Options

I have been away from this site for a few years. I was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer with lymph node involvement in 2010. Lately I've been waking up from a deep sleep with severe pain in the back of my thigh. It usually would recede after about 15 mins. but last night it happened at 3:30am. and I have been up since with the pain in my thigh I can't get comfortable laying down or sitting or standing. My question is, has anyone else gone through this? Could this be my cancer back in my bones?? Of course its the weekend and can't call my dr. till Monday. Its so worrisome :(

JMW, have you considered that it might be a DVT? (Blood clot in vein). I'd be inclined to go to urgent care in your situation.

No, I never thought of that! I will phone my sister and see what she thinks. She is a retired R.N. Thanks, Cubbie.

JMW, a couple of months after being given Zometa, I began having intense leg pain. Had an MRI and was diagnosed with L4-L5 compression. 2 years later I had spinal fusion surgery, which did nothing to help my pain. About 6 months after that failed surgery, a rheumatologist had the "brilliant" idea to examine my hips. Well, he discovered they were immovable and ordered a hip x-ray. Seems I had total necrosis of my upper femurs. Although there is no empirical evidence, my husband and I strongly believe the Zometa at least aggravated this. BUT, if you had chemo, that can definitely cause necrosis of the bone. Please have your hips examined. It's so simple. If even one of the several doctors I saw before the neurologist had bothered to lay me down on a table and examine my hips, I could have avoided years of debilitating pain. I have subsequently had both hips replaced and am almost completely back to normal!
