Multiple intraductal papillomas
I am a 41 year old mother of 3 daughters. While showering on 12/21/14, I found a large hard/thickening area with knots in the lower part of my left breast and it was also tender. So, I was able to make an appt for a diagnostic mammogram on 12/24/14. My last mammogram was only in July of this year and was all clear. (My aunt and grandmother are both breast cancer survivors.) After the mamm was complete they did an ultrasound. The tech seemed confused at first because there was such a large area of what she thought to be cysts. (10 cm) Once the radiologist came in she did the ultrasound again and said they were not cysts, they were multiple intraductal papillomas. She said often they are solitary single ones but there were so many she said she didn't have an accurate count. She said I needed to see a breast surgeon soon and they will need to be surgically removed - that whole area/duct. The radiologist seemed concerned when she noticed the blood that had come out of my nipple when she pressed against my breast during ultrasound. I know that blood is common with single papillomas located in the central area around the nipple. She mentioned seeing atypical something. She mentioned there's always the chance of malignancy but she said don't worry, it's prob all benign. But the radiologist seemed concerned. I know I did not imagine that. And the tech did too. I felt like they were not telling me something.
My questions are the following:
1) does anyone know if having so many grow since July '14 to now, is that more alarming? I've never found anything on that.
2) has anyone had that many and upon surgery discovered BC?
3) in my 3 day wait I've now developed the same pain and lumps in the right breast which I've read is common for multiple ones. I'm just surprised they've come up this quick in other breast.
info/stories/ knowledge anyone has (good or bad) would be appreciated. Holidays have delayed getting appt bc surgeons office has been closed for 3 days. Will have to wait all weekend. Thank you!

Hi Kay28,

Hi breed10,
Checking back on how things went with your papillomatosis. Mine came back benign on left breast. But now I have a couple more on right Breast. See BS in a couple of weeks.
