For those of you on ovarian suppression shots, how soon after the shots started did your MO start you on an AI? And did your doctor test your estrogen levels to make sure the shots are working?

I've been doing monthly Lupron since July and just switched to an AI from tamoxifen. My doctor did not mention any testing of my levels but I've read here about the shots not fully working for some so I am concerned

So I started off with tamoxifen, then decided to go the ovarian supression route--that's why I had the switch. I think normally you would just start with an A.I.

Kathy, I started with tamoxifen and when my period returned I went on zoladex. And after one month switched to AI without any hormone check. My Onc thinks hormone tests are not reliable when on tamoxifen. I would have preferred to test, but trusted her and it's one less thing to test and agonize over.

I just had my first Lupron shot about 2 weeks before I saw my oncologist. She said it should be working by now and immediately had me start on Aromasin. So my time between suppression shot and AI was relatively short without any blood work. But my period in the next week did not happen so I guess she was right.
