So met with surgeon today and he feels I need to do mastectomy vs lumpectomy. What do I have to look forward to, and how do you move forward with only one breast?

    I am sorry for what you are going through. It is both sad and scary. Are you open to breast reconstruction? I just had a double mastectomy with reconstruction on Oct 21st. Also, have you been to another doctor to get a 2nd opinion

    There is a lady who,posts frequently that has one breast and has done very well and is very uplifting...certainly no pun intended.

    I waited a year before I had bil. Reconstruction. You may want to see how you do before you decide. It does make it harder though because of needing the expanders.

    Be sure to see a plastic surgeon.
