My mom and grandmother both had breast cancer, and I recently found a lump. I'm going to my doctor on Friday and fully expect her to send me for a mammogram. I'm 30, so this would be my first. I'm very anxious about it, so my question is- in your experience, how long does it take before they get back with you on the results of the mammogram?

When I go for a diagnostic mammogram, at my facility the doctor talks to me after and shows me the films and tells me what she thinks or recommends.

Was it your mom's mom who had BC? If so, has your family had any genetic counseling or testing

Yes, it was my mom's mom. No, we have not had any. We loones into it, but honestly we just can't afford it. We have an $11k deductible for our health insurance, so we would basically have to pay for it, and just can't do it.

You should talk to the radiologist about this. I had mine done under a special grant program through my hospital.

Also, you can have testing done by Color Genomics for about $300, but ideally your mom would test first.

I did it through Color 1.5 years ago. It was $250 then and I believe that they have scholarship program. At that time negative for 19 mutations but since then I think others have been isolated
