Skin issues 2 months after CHEMO with hair growth!

Options

Hello! I am new to this community and was wondering if anyone has/is experienced/experiencing any problems with their skin with hair growth.

My hair grew in overnight one night....eyebrows in one week were in and full about 7 weeks after chemo ended. (My last chemo was Aug 19, 2016). The hair on my head is like fur. The hair on my legs is impossible to shave. When I do, it still feels like I have stubble. My skin on my stomach, arms, legs, back...etc....all bumpy and rough. Has anyone experienced this and if so, what can I do to help with the itching, and horrible way my skin feels? When i went through chemo, as much as it was horrible, my skin was the best it has ever been in my life. HELP! Happy

It can take a full year for the texture of your hair to return to a more normal state; and in that time, you may even have facial "fur". It takes a long time, but after about a year, it'll resemble what it'll be like moving forward. It's not always what it was like before...mine is a different texture, eyelashes and brows are thin, etc....but these are things that only I notice. No one else does. It is frustrating to have to wait though. I took pictures each week on the same day. That way when I felt like hair growth had stalled, I could look back a few weeks and see changes.

If there was one perk to chemo it was how beautiful my skin looked. I was too sick to get off the couch for anyone else to see it, but it was smooth, clear and beautiful. It has since gone back to normal. My hair is normal except the eyelashes are still short and stubby. The one lasting effect I had was to my nails. Two of my fingernails keep peeling and I get recurring ingrown toenails. I'm a little over two years out from my final chemo. The dermatologist recommended lots of moisturizing for the peeling nails, which makes sense, but I asked him for a "magic fix", which he has none. My husband gets itchy skin, he uses blue star ointment and says it helps. Hope things get better for you soon.

We have hair all over our body and I am wondering if the bumps could be ingrown hairs since your hair is coming back. You could try exfoliating body scrub or just a loofah. I hope you find relief soon!
