Exchange Surgery: Round vs Teardrop Implants?

I am scheduled for my expander exchange surgery in December and have been going round and round about what type of implant I want. My PS strongly prefers teardrop implants for mastectomy patients (less rippling, less "shelf-like" appearance in upper pole) but I was leaning toward round implants because they seem softer and less rigid to me than the teardrops. I hate the expanders so much that I don't want anything even resembling the way they have felt these past few months. I'd love to get input from others on the type of implants they chose and why!

I just went to a seminar on Breast reconstruction. Afterward, there was a room where about twenty women who have had reconstruction were topless (thank you to these kind women!. I found that the teardrop shape looked more natural than round.

For a woman in her 50's, "natural" seems to mean "droopy" and that is what my anatomicals look like to me. Droopy, wide and flat. I have had mine since June and while the surgery went well and is technically sound, I get a little sad whenever I look at mine, clothed or not. I like them, but I don't love them. I "could" live with them this way...but do I "want" to live with them this way? If I had it to do over, I would go with rounds. I still may go that way!

I have Natrelle 410 FF implants, 595 gr in case you want to research specific implants.

    Good luck with your decision.

Stephincanada, was that event in Ottawa? I was there! An extraordinarily informative and amazing event. So impressed with the fierce show-and-tell gals.

As i go in to (hopefully) lumpectomy + lift surgery in early December, i plan to tell my PS to do a good job and i'll be one of his show-and-tell girls next year. I didn't see any lumpectomy reconstructions that night.
