    Looking forward to San Antonio!

I went to POUND this morning. I have a sad update on Oreo. Although he seemed to be doing very well after his procedure; eating, drinking, "talking" etc., it all must have been too much trauma for his 17 year old body, and he passed away last night in his sleep. He was a much loved sweet, naughty kitty (if cats had tombstones, his would read, "Oh No, OREO!") and he will be truly missed.

Thanks, ladies. Oreo was such a character. It will be a little too quiet around here, but luckily we still have his 'brother' (he and Henry were cellmates at the Humane Society), two grand-cats, and the grand-puppy all in town; so I can still get my furry friend fix.

Sad for your loss, Ruth. I have lost many furry family members over the years and it is never easy. I hope your trip to Texas helps you heal. Go and have a good time with some good women.

Have a wonderful time ladies in San Antonio!!! I have been there twice and great fun.

I am so sorry about Oreo, Ruth. I still miss all my furry friends including the dog I grew up with who was my first hiking companion.

I think tomorrow will finally be a break in the rain, so will get in a long ride, perhaps do the 60 miles of the Centennial Trail up and back and see the fall color. I want to do this one more time before it gets cold.

Great news is that my car didn't need transmission work. They didn't locate the noise, but don't think it's serious. So I got away with just new front brakes and 1 hour labor for troubleshooting the noise. (Even though they took the rear differential apart.)

Lots of exercise walking the 1.8 miles each way from the transit center to the office. I did learn how much I rely on my car to get around.

Looking forward to a peaceful weekend. No storms, no taxes to get in, no software upgrades.

And best of all, my mammogram from last week was just fine!!! - Claire

Congratulations, Claire! I am in the Denver airport waiting for my second and final flight to SA. I just ate a raisin bran muffin and drank a smoothie. My last stab at healthy eating for the week 😉

Ruth - great picture. I think I can see a mischievous gleam in his eye. He'll be missed, I know. Claire - congrats on the clean mammo!

Here's a picture of some co-workers - it was "Wear Pink" day for BC awareness. They were so good to me during my year of active treatment - I worked through chemo, but never would have been able to do it without their love and support. It's a good group and leaving them when I retire is going to be the roughest part, I think. That's me front and center holding the E in "Awareness". I'm wearing my Nationals Bat Girl jersey I got when I was honored at a Nationals game some years ago.

Walked for almost an hour today. LilacBlue asked how I was moving today. I wasn't, really. Her question reminded me to go out into the beautiful day. Thank you for that! Hugs to all.

Wishing all the ladies going to SA to have a wonderful time! Be sure to post lots of pictures.

Nats: Great picture! You will really miss your co-workers.

Claire: Congratulations on a good mammo report!

LB: The pumpkins are selling and I've already had to paint some more this week.

    Blinkie: :Beautiful picture!

Weather was much cooler to day. Mowed for 90 minutes. Wish it is this cool when I mow in the summer!

Ooo - I wish I were there! Next year for sure!!

I learned this morning that it's hard to run a 5k when you keep stopping to pet the spectators! Ran the Thundering Hooves 5k to benefit the Gentle Giants Draft Horse Rescue today. They rescue draft horses from the slaughter auctions, rehab them, and adopt them out. The horses had a ball watching us - they kept running to the paddock fences to watch those silly primates run by. Those horses are magnificent beings.

I walked for over an hour. I've got aches & pains & fears (about upcoming PET scan) so walking was good medicine.

Today's exercise was a 3.5 mile hike to see what little fall color we have here in Atlanta. Had hope to go up in the mountains but too long a drive for this weekend. Pumpkins were painted/decorated by ds's school and sold to raise money for BC.

Love all the pics!! This thread must be the most picturesque of all. HappyI'm sorry mine were so picky, but will try to post from my phone and see if that works better.

Great news on the mammo, Claire! What a beautiful place to run, Mary, horses included!

Lugged upstairs and assembled some Ikea-style furniture for DD yesterday. Have to try to get her to clean up her room before school starts tomorrow. Otherwise my exercise today will be decluttering and cleaning it myself.

Did a two hour bike ride out beyond the edge of town and around farm fields this morning. Biking feels so much better than walking, much easier on my knees, and this is the perfect time of year for it....
