Hello community,

my God-daughter, my 23-year old niece, is starting chemo and since I am in the US and she's in Germany, I want to send her a care package.

I have tried to do some research and have started to put together a bundle, but would love to get some feedback to see if this stuff really is useful (but maybe also just fun) or if what I read is outdated or overrated. Here is what I have:

- tote

- soft blanket

- snuggly socks/moisturizing socks

- soft gloves

- unscented lotion

- Queasy Drops (anti nausea) and lemon drops

- water bottle (with optional infuser)

- adult coloring books (she's young a graphic designer, so I got her one with inspirational quotes and one with not so nice words embedded in the pictures - figured she could pick what fits her mood)

- colored pencils

- a dammit doll (you know, the ones you can throw and slam against things)

- a very silly looking bobble head bald eagle (will make a note that says something like that the eagle stands for courage and strength, but that you need to keep a bit of humor around too)

- a little guardian angel pocket token

- flash drive with music (mix of inspirational, encouraging, and some kick butt warrior-fight song kind of stuff)

Any and all feedback would be much appreciated. Box will get shipped start of next week.

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Bowhuntergal:

What a lovely and thoughtful gesture! We're sure the package will be much appreciated. You've got a great list here already; check out our ongoing thread on chemo tips/shopping lists for more inspiration: https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/69/topics....

Your niece is fortunate to have such a caring god mother. You have a very useful package already, but I would like to suggest a stocking cap as Germany will be getting cold as winter approaches. I'm sure they have nice toothbrushes in Germany, but I found the best one for my sore mouth was a baby toothbrush. And do you think she might like a paperback book of crossword puzzles or sudoku? And a mechanical pencil to go with it. Sending good wishes. Jan

A black silk eye mask for napping during infusions. (Especially if she will have Benadryl in pre-meds.)

A silk pillowcase for home, for her tender scalp. (Can happen as hair starts to come out.
