Bone scan

Options

I had chemo first, followed by a BMX (in July 2016) and had a PCR of my triple negative cancer. The paston the I've had rib pain and I had a bone scan today. After it was done, the tech went to see if the radiologist wanted any more pics. He did, so she took more checked with him again and then came back and took a few more....this feels ominous. Does this imply a bad rexult or is this normal?

I'm sorry you're dealing with this so soon after treatment. I've had both bone scans and CT scans where the radiologist requests more images and both times the scans were negative. At the time I also thought it was ominous but in my experiences it was just a matter of the radiologist wanting to make sure there were good images at all angles. When do you get your results?

Thanks for your reply, I'm glad yours were negative. I expect a call tomorrow or the next day.

I'll just add that I've had rib pain as well. A PET to check on it was all clear. My surgeon feels strongly that it is inflammation post-mastectomy (perhaps aggravated by radiation). He literally put his hand right on the spot that hurt without me even showing it to him and said ... "right there... yep thats really common!" I hope you get good results from your scan!

    hi there,

I can't answer your question but I just wanted to say I also had rib pain that began after chemo and mastectomy. I too was triple negative and had a pCR and the pain started post treatment. I had a bone scan and CT and both were clear. To this day I don't know what the pain was, but I was prescribed omaprezole and it went away. My doctors think it was caused by either the chemo or steroids and was some sort of internal inflammation.I was so anxious at that time as you likely are too! I hope you get positive results soon. X
