Just wondering if anyone has used this during chemo. I know it's a bit strange, combining an alternative with conventional medicine, and maybe I won't find anyone who has done this. Anyway-- a believe it increases white cells but it may boost immune system in another way.

This is the one thing I found that really helped my late-stage Lyme disease, although it didn't fix me 100%. Not sure it would boost an immune system that was already working well; maybe just gets the lowered immune system back up to normal.

I am starting chemo soon, and I just wanted to see if anyone out there used this and what their experience was.

Thanks for pointing that out goldie.

Maybe I should have put this on the complementary board ... Whoops.

I hope the Lyme goes away quickly! Sometimes that's a bit tricky to treat. (And note--the tests are not very accurate). It's always best to see a Lyme specialist for that, just like one would see oncology for cancer. :)

Didsome research on this and found that it's in a quinolone family which I am deathly allergic too.

I certainly wouldn't recommend using anything you are uncomfortable with or without researching it. :) I believe it CANNOT be taken while you are ON any sort of immune-lowering medications. It may be possible to take it after those are out of your system.

That being said, as far as I understand it, they may be similar, but their chemical structures are different. It cannot be in the quinolone family per se, but I believe the quinolones were "based on" quinovic acid (Cat's Claw and other bark). It definitely doesn't mean you would get the side-effects just because of that. :)
