Concurrent elective procedures

I couldn't find this topic searching around so apologies if there's a thread already.

I'm planning to schedule fat grafting with my PS now that I'm nearing 6 months out from radiation. I wondered if anyone else had bundled additional liposuction with their covered procedure? I understand that insurance will only let the PS remove so much fat in a session, and I'm thinking it might be possible to self-pay for an extra zone. Of course it might be a paperwork nightmare, or completely disallowed, but it seems sensible to undergo one procedure. Thanks

Wainwight- I did not have extra liposuction at the time of my fat grafting...but I sure could have used it. I don't see why that isn't an option though. I am planning on having a touch up in a few months and will strongly encourage him to take more than he needs!

I was at Fairfax Hispital for training last week. From nova and have been living in Richmond now for 25 years. My parents are still there in Franklin Farns...so we are practically neighbors. There is a group here that does meet ups in nova, if you haven't found them already. Feel free to pm me anytime!

I have seen a few PS who will allow a cosmetic procedure, the additional lipo, along with a covered "breast revision" to happen in the same surgery, but most will not do this. Even removing more fat than needed for FG for your recon gives your insurance company grounds to deny or disallow the surgery as a whole and label it "cosmetic", and it is difficult to suss out how to bill for the OR, the anesthesiologist, potential extra time in recovery - the hospital or surgery center will be challenged to determine how much to bill insurance, and how much to bill you as self-pay for the extra work. If you have a complication is it due to the lipo done for the revision, or the cosmetic procedure? It is a can of worms that most docs won't open.

Lived in Fairfax County from 1996-2006 when my DH was stationed at the Pentagon. My DS is now a paramedic in Loudon County and worked at Fair Oaks Hospital for several years. Miss that area! I did a Her2+ vaccine trial at Johns Hopkins (Sibley) and it was fun to come up frequently and see DS and lots of old friends.

Just posting another update. I've seen my PS and he said it's nothing out of the ordinary and he can do it. They just start the clock after they are done with the first procedure, and that's what you pay for. :)
